OWS Livestream Returns

January 10th, 2010:

This is the result of the legal decision handed down. There is occasional chanting of 'All Day. All Week. Occupy Wall Street.'

They're making plans, tonight, doing mic checks. I heard them saying earlier:

'Tomorrow there will be a library and a kitchen and an occupation here...'

When it's daylight there will be something more to see. Possibly this will go on 24/7.

If interested, go here and listen now:

Hope that he is okay.

He gave very fair coverage of all the parties involved and his feed, narration and style of interviewing was very good.

He has not been online since early New Year's Day.

I might learn to twitter if there's more than just those brief messages we see posted. There are likely privacy concerns, too. I don't want to 'follow' someone else or 'be followed' all the time, LOL!

All posts are public (except for direct messages), so you can go to @timcast and see what he's been posting without having to follow him or even sign up for anything.

You can also search Twitter at https://twitter.com/#!/search-home (though you'll have to copy and paste the link, since the software seems to want to cut it off after the !)

For example, a search on #ows gives you all the posts that include the hashtag "#ows." (A hashtag is just a simple method people use to make it easy to search for posts on a particular subject. It has the "#" in front of the name or abbreviation that people find it most natural to use for that subject, and it works surprisingly well.)

I just did that search and it brought up a bunch of current messages about the reoccupation of Zuccotti. (Dwayne_wins is another livestreamer, who I first noticed during the October snowstorm worrying that his feet were getting frostbitten. Newyorkist is a blogger who keeps pretty well up to date on Occupy doings in New York.)

And she almost never returns to the other forum. It is giving her a much needed connection as she is at home caring for a family member.

Can I do this from my cellphone as a text message without getting too expensive?

I'm really missing out, I guess.

The URL is http://www.ustream.tv/timcast

If you click on the main video window you currently get a recording from earlier this evening of the people reoccupying Zuccotti Park.

He plans to be down at Occupy Congress on January 17, along with OakFoSho (from Oakland) and many of the other livestreamers.

His Twitter account at https://twitter.com/timcast always has the latest on when he's livestreaming and where he plans to be next.

LA vets demand housing at giant VA campus

'Los Angeles (CNN) -- The connection seems obvious: nearly 400 acres of land set aside to house veterans and thousands of veterans who need a place to call home.

But Los Angeles' estimated 8,000 homeless vets have been barred from living at the sprawling campus for decades. The West Los Angeles property -- some of the most valuable in the nation -- was donated in 1888 to "establish, construct and permanently maintain" a branch of a national home for veterans, according to the original deed.'

The Obama administration has alloted $35.5M to provide housing there again and made a commitment to end veteran homelessness by 2015. but the veteran made famous in the film 'Born On the Fourh of July' is wanting more to be done now:

'Kovic is calling for an occupation protest of the West LA property, not unlike the current Occupy Wall Street movement.'

Rest of the story is at this link. And this is going on across the US as the 1% is stealing the commons. I saw another story of a veteran sleeping outside the place, literally on the gournd at the locked gates, while it was alleged there were meetings being held inside the gates for big corporations. It's not new, but misappropriation of land is central to Occupy:

The feed just went to a shot of his feet and then back to a video inside of a building testing his drone.

I'm sure there will be more tomorrow.
