General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsHere's all you need to know about HR 1, which will be much-discussed in the coming days:
---Democrats want to make it easy, simple and convenient to vote for all who are qualified and so inclined.
---Republicans are desperate to preserve their ability to win elections by cheating.
There'll be a lot more "discussion", but that's it in a nutshell.
Now you can take a walk, plan your gardening or read a book instead of trying to cut through the "earnest concern about election integrity" BS the Republicans will be spewing.
You're welcome.

(15,568 posts)Without killing the filibuster, which is required to pass SB1, the GOP will gerrymander and rig the system so they can control all three branches of government for the next decade or longer.
Dems have about 10 months to pass HR1/SB1 before new district lines are drawn, which will flip at least 6 house seats before a single vote is cast. New voter suppression laws just passed in GA will result in Warnock losing his seat in 2022- voting rights laws would stop that.
The stakes are higher than you can imagine- no more politics as usual, no more lets hope we pick up more seats in 2022, then we can make big changes
Dems must wield their power ruthlessly, and that includes against any of their members who would obstruct.
