Note: I went to high school with Tony back in the day. I thought he did a great job with the 2010 oil spill and managing that, but I think he's gone off the rails here. I'm honestly tired of wearing a mask, after a year, but I'm more tired of a 9/11's worth of deaths every damn day because people won't wear masks or social distance.

It must be the Southern sun. It fries people's brains. I don't have any other explanation.

Even though prices have skyrocketed in the last 18 months, it's still cheaper than most of the country. Of course, you must be willing to have a farking repuq as your neighbor.

I remember when WKRG radio had the spoof on "All My Children" or some other soap opera, and they talked about Gary Gringo and the other County Commissioners. That was some funny stuff.
I worked as a volunteer on Scott Hunter's County Commission bid in 1976. I think that was his only try for elective office.

(21,105 posts)I was one of those delayed college goers. I went to work immediately and went back to college in 89. Graduated in 94, 20 years to the week of graduating HS. Where are you located now? I have been living out by what used to be Shaw HS since 1989.

My mother taught at Shaw in the mid-70s. Those were interesting times. A lot has changed since then.
Hope you are well. I haven't been there since before the Pandemic. My mom wants me to come (and since she's mid 90s I should) but I just can't until I can be vaccinated.

(21,105 posts)She was in the age group. I went with her on the day she got her first one and found out that they sometimes have leftovers. I went back at the end of the day and sure enough, I was able to get one also.
Since she is in remission from Stage 4 Lymphoma, we were very relieved to be able to get the Phizer shots. We had no ill effects.
We still use double masks when we go out into public places and we very much restrict that, but it is nice to be able to go and buy our own groceries now instead of having them delivered.
Yes, you, like ME should visit your mother. Mine lives in Tenn now. I talk to her often, but a visit would make her happy. Her hubby is a tRumper so it makes it difficult.

(82,849 posts)So, what's the end game here, Mr. Kennon? Having everyone point and laugh at you for wearing a mask? Seems like an awful long way to go for a lame joke. Do you think this is like a frat initiation prank, where they blindfold you and make you put your hand in a bowl of peeled grapes, and tell you that it's really the eyeballs of people who died of the Covid?
Because when you say things like this in public, you sound kind of stupid, which in my opinion is worse than any of the falsities you've conjured up in your imagination for why this whole pandemic is political rather than a public health issue.
