walking in a garden wearing stiletto heels? 😤

Neither have I, but if she spent 10 minutes of "IT'S " first and only administration in that garden I'd be totally surprised. What a waste, both the beautiful garden and Malaria.

mind the design either, but definitely need to add more color. I love tulips and daffodils, unfortunately they are only for a short amount of time in the Spring. Need more flowers that bloom all summer.

Hope she can build it back? My guess is that Jill Biden is the one who came up with "Build back Better", probably in her sleep. You saw all that love on the WH lawn Valentine's day! We all saw her trick everyone on AF1 into thinking she was a pixie-haired flight attendant named "Jasmine" on April Fool's day. I had no idea what she's capable of, but I'll bet she's got some amazing ideas for the WH garden.

I'd personally love it if they added some apple trees.

And anyone who thinks that is an easy job needs to try it for a day. Instead of teaching and entertaining a group of 50 or so children, some of whom are on drugs, she's now teaching and entertaining the world, many who need drugs. She'll always come up with the unexpected and it will always be better than what was there to begin with.

She is the first FLOTUS with a full time university teaching career, and a full extracurricular schedule of promoting education-related causes on top of it. I’m sure they can hire a landscape group to handle that and let an aide oversee it. She has much more important things to do than select flowers (or in Melania’s case, select flowers badly).

Just like he tore up the basketball court which was used by Obama in order to install
a new tennis court and house in Dec. of 2020 after he lost the election and when
nobody was playing tennis too.

The "new rose" looks like it was done by Larry's grass cutting, landscaping, and "we
clean gutters too" company.

Things the old rose garden had trees that gave great light and shadow play on the walkway
from the living quarters to the west wing.

Some of the roses' lines went back 150 years from prior administrations and they are gone now.

Jackie Kennedy's Rose Garden was designed by a really good L.A. who wanted it to be a place
where visitors could meet with the President and others in a more relaxed environment and many
Presidents used it for just that. She based her design on French knott gardens and it spawned
thousands of other knott gardens across America.

The construction of Jackie's garden was directed by a man who went on to head (I think) the
Brooklyn Botanical Garden. The work on the new garden was so bad that they had to dig it
up with in 2 weeks because they forgot to install drainage.

I'm sure this can be fixed. At least that dreadful Ronald Reagan didn't destroy the White House.

I think it would be a tight fit trying to maneuver a wheelchair around those borders. They were constructed for one woman in stiletto heels. I don't think the Drumpfs put too much thought into whether anything was accessible to anyone but themselves.

Of course I could be completely wrong about that. It's happened before.

I can’t stand Melania, but I do know she was used to make this ADA change (the crappy foliage is in her). I also know ADA regulations piss off even my most liberal friends. In good old liberal Arlington, VA, woolen are angry when trees are removed on school grounds to build a wheelchair accessible path to the fields. Arlington cut out an extremely ugly crossing thingy in front of my house and people will occasionally yell at me because they can’t park there. But.....when I see a wheelchair, stroller, or any person use it, ok it’s all good.

As a Master Gardener who has lead garden tours of the UK and studied gardens around the world, one thing I've learned is that garden design isn't stagnant. All great gardens are tweeked and improved by the introduction of new plantings, new designs, and new methods of cultivation. I've been gardening my little plot of land for over 40 years and it changes every year and every season - that's a good thing.

A rose by any other name may smell as sweet, but a Rose Garden by any other design might not, it seems.
. . .
The reaction was swift. And harsh.

Slate called the revamp “fit for an unchecked presidency” and “Versailles in miniature.” One political strategist lamented that “she cut down Jackie’s trees!” A young activist called former First Lady Jackie Kennedy’s Rose Garden “colorful and diverse and beautiful,” whereas “Melania just made it ... white.” The backlash spanned both ends of the political spectrum.

But, at least according to Marta McDowell, author of “All the Presidents’ Gardens” and an expert on gardening history (“Emily Dickinson’s Gardening Life”), not much has changed from the traditional Rose Garden design.
. . .

WHAT "Rose Garden"??? WHERE ARE THE ROSES??? A garden crime has been committed! So says this longtime gardener.

And what did that female beast do to the lawn??? Try to mold it toward a concrete-block effect? Even the grass looks unhappy and mistreated. Frankly, I'm surprised she didn't have the whole thing spray-painted gold for donald to look at.

It's as cold, barren, and unbecoming as is the woman who most recently "redesigned" it. There's an old expression along the lines of "her taste is in her mouth." But I feel compelled to adjust that to "her taste is UP HER ASS." In the interest of accuracy.

I ardently hope our new First Lady will fix it! Needs to be TOTALLY redone. Put it back in the shame it was before Malodora desecrated it. ANY leftover trace of the trumps left behind should be erased, destroyed, completely redone, or otherwise done away with!
