Niclas Steno is today's Google doodle.

Wiki:
"By 1659, Steno had decided not to accept a statement as true simply because it was written in a book, but rather to rely on his own research." Is the Bible not a book? This is amazing considering Pope John Paul II beatified Steno in 1988.

Science and education has taken a drubbing from the GOP candidates. The irony is that there are so many candidates and congress people in the GOP that were issued diplomas is, to me, proof there is a problem with higher education in this country. It's as if they learned nothing related to math or science yet are the first to put them down.
