A different hypothetical, I am John Doe's lawyer, I rob a liquor store at John's bequest and split the money, John Doe is in trouble.

But if a client initiates a communication with a lawyer for the purpose of committing a crime or an act of fraud in the future, the attorney-client privilege typically doesnt apply. Likewise, most states allowor requireattorneys to disclose information learned from a client that will prevent death or serious injury. Many have a similar rule where revealing otherwise confidential information would prevent or remedy financial injury due to a crime or fraud.

The U.S. Senate voted not guilty, that doesn't mean Trump is not guilty of directing Giuliani to break the law(s).
