while going through my 15-minute waiting period I felt some pressure in the vaccine area
so I decided to do some arm exercises. I lifted my vaccine arm out to my side and
straight up several times, probably spending less than a minute doing that. And since
then there has been no pain or sensation of any kind.
While other events of the day had the potential to cause me anxiety and stress I
celebrated and I wish that everyone has as pleasant an experience.

(2,159 posts)By Monday, 3pm, we were both very sick with high fevers. Hubby thought he was going to die, lol (his fever was over 103 and Ill admit that I was nervous for him). The next day we were fine, but he still has a headache. That and the very sore arm really kicked our butts but Im soooo glad we did it. I feel a sense of freedom.
Hubby says, if the shot was this bad, imagine getting the actual Covid.
That sense of freedom stays with you. For me its this little feeling of happiness and anticipation that pops up every now and then.
I am so thankful and grateful.

(35,432 posts)I think of a place I want to go and say, I can go there, and I do.
Two weeks after my second shot I called it my Independence Day and I made a list of all the places I wanted to go or things I wanted to do. I chose two: one was a museum. It was the greatest day. I was so happy.
This vaccine is a wonderful gift that our scientists and an organized, efficient government has given us.

(28,407 posts)A full week after I got it my arm swelled up like a giant hive at the injection point. Antihistamines have helped but my body reallllly doesnt like it.
Nevertheless, I persist and am looking forward to getting my last shot over with.

(45,261 posts)I was receiving Dolly Parton songs with excellent clarity.
Actually, the next day I had fever, chills, headache, fatigue but it only lasted a day. Tylenol pm and a good nights sleep was enough to feel great the following day.

Now, I'm back to "American Gods" on Starz, and I feel like my old blasphemous self again. Ahhhhh!!!!!

Reminded me of days of the hangover when I was younger.

(32,778 posts)second Moderna a few days ago.
She must've made an impression on them. They already penciled in her booster for Oct.
Ahh, a chip off of the old blockhead.
Good luck and good job on starting down the path to immunity.

(21,146 posts)that the vaccines are effective even if we have a mild or no reaction to the vaccine. But we are also being told that the reactions like fever, chills, fatigue, and headaches are signs that the vaccine is working to build up antibodies. So if we don't get those reactions, how do we know that our immune systems have mounted a good defense?
My reaction was mild. No fatigue. Just the opposite, in fact. I had a surge of energy and stamina that lasted all day after my second shot.
Next day, I had moderate aches in my upper back. Felt slightly feverish but my temp was only a few tenths of a degree above usual. I had a loss of appetite, but no nausea. It felt like the very early stages of a cold or flu, before it takes hold enough to actually be sick.
And that's all (except for the sore arm). No fatigue, headache, chills, or fever. I did get a peculiar pink rash a few days later on my arm, about an inch or two below the shot site. It was the size of a tennis ball, but totally flat, in a perfectly round shape, as if drawn there with a mechanical device capable of making a perfect circle. It did not itch or hurt and disappeared after two days.
I did not like the idea of getting sick from the vaccine, but would feel better about it if it had happened.

(15,958 posts)The second shots weren't any worse than the first (Moderna for him, Pfizer for me).
My daughter and her boyfriend were supposed to getting their first jab yesterday. Haven't yet heard how they're doing, but I'm already counting the days till we can all get together sans masks. (What a concept!)

(56 posts)Those people (especially the younger crowd) with more robust immune systems tend to have a greater reaction to the second shot. After 2-3 weeks you will be just as protected (95% from getting covid and almost 100% from hospitalization, ventilation, and death) as those who felt like they were dying after the second shot. Rejoice and be happy!!!

(21,146 posts)I was completely surprised by it since I expected the opposite. I got my second shot at 10 am on a Friday. I walked from the vaccination clinic to a shopping plaza a few blocks away, bought some items for meal preps and walked back, up a steep hill with more energy and stamina than ususal.
Went home to prepare meals in advance so that I would not need to cook the next day when I expected to be sick and fatigued. That Friday, the same day as the shot, I made homemade chicken vegetable soup, pasta sauce, homemade chicken nuggets, and a big batch of meatballs. Did up all the dishes, mopped floors, vacuumed, and did a load of laundry. I am 71 and normally would take breaks between these activities but instead was buzzing around like the energizer bunny. This went on past midnight until I decided that I should rest up for the expected symptoms the next day.
If I could get the same results, I would take even another shot just for the energy and stamina boost. The anticipated fatigue never materialized.
ON EDIT: Besides the meal prep, I also washed, dried, and froze a batch of fresh blueberries and a large bunch of asparagus, cleaned the cat litter, and changed the bedding. Each activity seemed to increase rather than decrease my energy.

(22,119 posts)because it came on maybe 48 hours after my 2nd shot. I have fibromyalgia and often have episodes of fatigue; I really thought it was a minor flare. I now think it was what passed as side effect. It lasted a day maybe two, and mostly I just felt like I did not want to even lift my arms up but not necessarily sleepy.
Of course I had the sore arm.
Mr Yellow Dog had more of a reaction with the second shot, like the onset of a mild flu for about 48 hours. This makes total sense because his immune system is not nearly as strong as mine. He Had Moderna.
It kind of reminded me of when our daughter first started day care; he caught every little virusy thing she brought home. I never did.

(8,261 posts)The overwhelming majority of people have no reaction past a little tenderness around the vaccine injection site
There are people with reactions most mild some a little harsher but there are over 575000 people who have died of Covid. The trade off is simple to me.
Keep feeling good, soon the Full immunity will kick in as you have received your full dose!
This is the way we get closer to normal

(16,296 posts)No adverse reaction for me, but she got "Covid Arm" (doctor's terminology)after the first shot. Ache in injection area, slight swelling, red inflamed area which lasted 3/4 days. Ice packs and some antihistamines and it was gone. No reaction to the second shot.

(4,434 posts)I had cold symptoms in the evening after getting my 2nd shot and woke up with a slight fever at 4 a.m. Felt sick all the next day until about 9 p.m. when I suddenly felt fully recuperated.
I am very happy to be fully vaccinated and making plans to see my kids and grand-kids after 13 months of quarantine.
