I have this intuition about DeSantis

He thinks this makes him The Man.

But reality is coming. His policies are gonna cost us economically and I hope him an election.

Just watched the pandemic version. Hysterical.

But I highly doubt party leadership is sitting around hoping for COVID to escalate. That is a lazy and morally repugnant game plan.

DeSantis did his own science instead of trusting the experts but so far he has middle of the pack medical results (with an elderly population) while maintaining good economic results and little in the way of lifestyle alteration mandates.

Obama easily bested the field and ascended to the White House on the strength of similarly against-the-consensus decision-making on Iraq. Independents love that sort of leadership and DeSantis will be extremely formidable if current trends continue.

Our mindset should be to continue taking COVID seriously, remind people that improved numbers are from Biden's successful vaccination program, and be ready to pivot to an uplifting message as numbers drop. Pretending FL is screwing up, and party leadership continuing to VACATION there of all things, is a horrible strategy for 2022. Florida denial is DeSantis empowerment.
