One, she's scum. She always has been. Her father is a disgraced war criminal and part of a Republican Party past that philosophically believed that every nation in the world "deserved" freedom as defined by neocons which led to the deaths of millions and civil instability.
Their movement caused ALL the destruction in the Middle East post 2000.
Dick is the father of ISIS and has bloody handprints in Egypt, Syria, Libya, Yemen, Iraq and Afghanistan.
Two, she has NO political future. None. She has NO support other than the MSM giving her backslaps and Bill Kristol and the Lincoln Project.
She's going to be wiped out of the Congress in a biblical pounding in the Wy primary.
There's NO magical family power and hidden group of supporters who will propel her to political fame.
There's NO 3rd Party creation. The GOP just rec'd a record setting 74 Million votes for POTUS, almost took the House with a Boat anchor at the top of the ballot and maintained a near-stalemate in the Senate.
I IMPLORE all of you... please STOP dreaming and fantasizing about some 1 in a Billion shot at keeping Trump on the sidelines by whatever means... it's not fruitful nor based in reality.
Beat Trump and the GOP with good governance.
Watch Joe. He's working this thing masterfully, his approval numbers are A+ and he's sly enough to know where he can find bipartisan support from the GOP.
The GOP will LOSE in '22 and '24 (hopefully) because the population says "All that shit about communism and Border invasion never came true. The USA is a more compassionate country today and a more successful one, too. We're leading the world in protecting the environment AND my own life is better than before. We're now taxing the wealthy in a fair manner. Thumbs up for progressive policy."

(28,802 posts)I think in three years shell be the darling of the GQP again. Just in time to run.
But not against trump. Hes just grifting his supporters for $$$.

(12,354 posts)So she's going to win the GOP primary in Texas? Her home State of Wy? Florida, Oklahoma and Alabama?
Seriously.
She's done. She was a legacy seat in Congress given to her for nothing more than a surname.
He might run. He's a narcissist. He feeds on the power and adoration. He'd love NOTHING more than to get "revenge" from the oval office again.
If he doesn't run... he'll still be very active to support a protege.

(3,484 posts)All this praise for simply not being a traitor is ridiculous. Shes an awful person from an awful family who still defends the Iraq war and whose policy positions are horrific.
Shes no hero.

(32,626 posts)but it won't be the fate of Liz Cheney. She gets a gold star for doing the right thing. As a human, I'm sure she has qualities that are admirable from a distance....but the issue of the Republican party has no preordained outcome. Nothing about future events is based in reality.

Democrats. I consider any of the others that backed Trump's coup as traitors. That's the trouble with this country today it's either my way or the highway. She is giving up her job because of her belief in the truth. Only wish there more like her.

(21,935 posts)But... just because GOP elected officials are marching in lockstep, it doesnt necessarily mean that there arent plenty of people out there in the real world who call (or used to call) themselves Republicans that would rather stand with Liz Cheney than Donald Trump.
Down the middle is an exaggeration, but the point is, there now appears to be an irreconcilable split between two factions of the GOP. The party at large has declared itself the Party of Trump, with no room for dissenters. Meanwhile, Cheney could be sucking up to Trump or playing the Susan Collins concern game, but instead shes driving the wedge, hard.
The more time they spend loudly and publicly fighting each other on fundamental issues like was the election stolen? or does the truth matter?, the less time they spend fighting us, and the more they look like a shambles than a viable political party. That cant be a bad thing for us.

(2,870 posts)we should be willing to praise them when they take a courageous position. And make no mistake, this is a courageous stand against the majority of her fellow House clowns as well as the large section of GOP voters that have swallowed all of tRump's bullshit and get their opinions from Faux and other nutjob propaganda sources.
There is no useful purpose--nor any credibility--in simply attacking the opposition in every instance. If you disagree with what she has done here, fine, go ahead and attack her for it.
But this attack in the face of a current stance we agree with is, at best, counter productive vitriol... IMO.
For the record, I loathe her father and almost always disagree with her.

(90,556 posts)...unlike Trump and Trumpists, she operates in the fact-based world? I will never fail to oppose her inflexible conservatism, but Dems have always been able to work with people who at least agree on what the facts are such as, Trump/ MAGAs tried to overthrow the government and still are trying.
Stating that doesnt make me or other Dems like me the enemy.

(7,488 posts)They are simply glad that her and a few other high profile repubs are telling the truth about the election and standing up to dump. It has nothing to do with her policies, her father, or anything other than that. Really, it's not a hard distinction to understand.
And this fuck-them-all take is exactly what the scorched earth people on the other side want to hear. They want a civil war and an end to democracy. Easy to express hatred and civil war behind a keyboard. Nuance, rationality and governing are hard, but necessary for a democracy to survive.

Ok, googled it. Avenatti.
Remember, they were talking him up as a POTUS candidate? It was laughable then and it's laughable now that they elevate Liz.
Why don't they ask her about the decade of instability she and her Dad are responsible for? Or ask her about her LGBT sister? Or About what she said about President Obama?
I can't forgive her no matter what she says about the GOP'ers and Trump.

(7,488 posts)To repeat, they are not "supporting" her as you claim. Like I said, the distinction between agreeing with her stance on dump and the election and her other stances are easy to see, unless one chooses to remain blind. War games may be fun to play but civil war is as bad as it gets. Keyboard warriors on both sides who see everything as all one or the other may lust for war and happy to incite it but when the real fighting starts they are nowhere to be found.

(12,354 posts)Or this?
Dick Cheney and his daughter Liz Cheney (the one who started a family feud with her lesbian sister, only to drop out of the Senate race in Wyoming) have an op-ed in tomorrows Wall Street Journal
Rarely has a U.S. president been so wrong about so much at the expense of so many.
Specifically, they claim that Obama was a fool to end the war in Iraq, and say his actions there both before and after the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) overtook several cities last week are increasing the terrorist threat against the United States. Unsurprisingly, theres no mention of whose stupid idea it was to go into Iraq in the first place.
When Mr. Obama and his team came into office in 2009, al Qaeda in Iraq had been largely defeated, thanks primarily to the heroic efforts of U.S. armed forces during the surge. Mr. Obama had only to negotiate an agreement to leave behind some residual American forces, training and intelligence capabilities to help secure the peace. Instead, he abandoned Iraq and we are watching American defeat snatched from the jaws of victory.
Despite clear evidence of the dire need for American leadership around the world, the desperation of our allies and the glee of our enemies, President Obama seems determined to leave office ensuring he has taken America down a notch. Indeed, the speed of the terrorists takeover of territory in Iraq has been matched only by the speed of American decline on his watch.

Don't ever concede our combined Democratic voting power to a state as small as Wyoming. There are too many of us, and we believe in democracy. We support the Constitution. What happens in any individual RED STATE should be of no concern to us, as long as we keep our eyes on the prize.
