Mom paid $590 a week to support her teen's weed habit

An Irish judge is contemplating how punishment should continue for a 16-year-old boy whose mother was paying for his €400 ($588) a week cannabis habit when he was charged with impeding a drug search last year.

Appearing this week in court for a pre-sentence probation report, the teenager, who was accompanied by his father, is awaiting sentence, reports Breaking News Ireland.

Calling the circumstances a “strange set of affairs,” Judge Kelly noted the teen’s mother “was giving you money to buy cannabis,” to which he replied “yes.”

Since that time, Judge Paul Kelly of Dublin Children’s Court noted the boy, who has been under supervision, was working well with the probation service, according to Breaking News.

Still, Judge Kelly said he had concerns about the teen’s ongoing cannabis use — he was still consuming about €100 ($147) worth of weed each week — and its potential impact on his mental health. He was also not ready to accept the Probation Service’s suggestion that supervision was no longer required.

2. Depends Where I Suppose

In the earliest days of legalized pot here in Illinois, it was common to see stuff at $70-75 for an eighth.
$560-600 an ounce. It's still not cheap now, but much better than it was. ($90-100 per quarter)
So, it could just be an ounce or ounce & a half per week.
Yeah, one could smoke that much.
Now, if it's under $200/ounce, that's a lot of pot in a week for one person.

6. This kid sure smokes a lot! I was a teenager in mid-70s Chicago.

Weed was cheap then, but it was also nowhere near todays quality. Not Even Close. We bought ounces for $20.00.

That ounce probably contained about a quarter ounce of stems and seeds. LOL.

It took quite a bit of that weed to get high. I went through an ounce a week back then.

With today's quality, I go through an eighth a week. No stems or seeds, either.

I smoked my first joint in a Christian Scholarship house on FSUs campus. It wasn't long before I could roll a joint with one hand and smoke it until the ashes fell off behind my teeth! Unlike my favorite President, I did inhale, deeply! I liked it a lot. At one time there was some opiated hash on campus, I liked it too, but it put me to sleep.

I gave up all that silly shit when I had children. If fact, I quit some months before we planned to conceive.

My mother never paid for my pot, in fact, she disapproved of it....strongly!

I can't remember the last time we saw a stem or seed.
It's probably happened over 3+ years, but I don't remember it.
And, stuff is sold with THC content and terpene distribution right on the label.
We gets lots of stuff over 25% THC.
Numbers that high were rare 10 years ago.
I also agree the kid smokes a lot, but the question was "is it possible?"
He smokes a lot, but it's definitely possible.

im 60. i smoke 1 oz of indica per week. it costs $100 before tax and $115 after tax at the govt store. i also grow my own for a little hash and to reduce costs. i live in bc. my american cousin smokes bongs, i smoke joints, which may be more wasteful.
