Giuliani appears to be in hot water, and his allies keep asking for Trumps help. But so far, the ex-president isnt willing to ride to the rescue of his one-time lawyer.Adam Rawnsley, Senior Researcher

In the weeks since the feds raided Rudy Giulianis apartment and office in late April, close allies have tried to ferry a slew of emergency requests to former President Donald Trump and his advisers.
But according to three people familiar with the matter, Trump, as well as several of his legal advisers and longtime confidants, have been hesitant about swooping in to help the embattled Giuliani, who for years worked as Trumps personal lawyer, a political adviser, and attack dog. Giuliani also served as a major player in the Trump-Ukraine scandal and as a key driver in the former presidents efforts to nullify Joe Bidens clear victory in the 2020 election.
Team Trumps reluctance to intervene comes at a time when federal investigators have ramped up their probe into whether Giulianis Ukraine-related work during the Trump era amounted to an unregistered and illegal lobbying operation on behalf of foreign figures. So far, no charges have been brought against the former New York City mayor as a result of this investigation, which began in 2019. Trumps silence has led to simmering frustrations among members of Giulianis inner orbit, who privately allege that the ex-presidents team is working to convince him to hang Giuliani out to dry in his hour of need.
Its a question now of whether or not [the former president and his team] want to leave Rudy to fend for himself or if theyre going to take a stand against this, one person close to Giuliani said last week. Right now, we dont know.

(14,623 posts)That has never been used for anything legal. Rudy knows he has money, has influence on others with money, and rudy badly needs it.
Rudy can't pay his lawyers. He has laid off just about everyone he had on staff. And can't keep up his billionaire lifestyle.
He is in a word, flat broke. The life of a grifter has a bad ending when the money is cut off.

Do not work for, or with, Donald Trump. He honestly believes everyone in the world exists to serve him, and for free.
Sorry, Rudy. I have the same amount of compassion for you as you've had for those beneath you. The cupboard is bare, dude.

(14,623 posts)Odd thing to say. Who's call is it? Pooties?
It's not illegal or even uncommon for someone to pay someone elses legal fees, even witnesses against them. So his lawyers aren't telling him not to pay one of his other lawyers.
Trump has money available from all the stop the steal fundraising.
So if it isn't his call, who's call is it?
