Kansas Republican Accused Of Kicking Teen In Testicles Says It Was God's Plan

State Rep. Mark Samsel allegedly assaulted a 16-year-old student while substitute teaching at a public school in his hometown last month.

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — A high school student reported that a Kansas House member working as a substitute teacher manhandled him and kicked him in the testicles during class, and the lawmaker told authorities that God told him to do it, according to a sheriff’s deputy’s written statement.

The deputy’s affidavit, released to reporters Tuesday, said the boy showed him a golf ball-sized “road rash” and a 3-to-4 inch scratch on his back that he said appeared after Republican state Rep. Mark Samsel, of Wellsville, pushed him up against a classroom wall on April 28.

The Wellsville school district has banned Samsel from its property and events for a year. There’s no indication that Samsel might face disciplinary action from the House, which can censure or expel a member, and its top Republican leaders have said the courts “must be allowed to work.”

The sheriff’s deputy said in the document that he asked the lawmaker why he had put his hands on the boy, and Samsel pointed to the ceiling. When the deputy asked Samsel whether God told him to do so, Samsel answered, “Twice.” “He stated he knew it was wrong and he shouldn’t do it, he stated he did not want to do it,” the affidavit said. “He stated, ‘The whole world is telling me not to do it, God said, Yes.’ Mark believes this was God’s plan.”

2. +1

At the very least, those 19 believed their cult leader had a special pipeline to their god.
Either way, religious extremism is dangerous to the public.

5. If there's a trial for assault, as there SHOULD be...

... then they should subpoena God and see if he ever shows up in the witness stand.

Good luck with that!

6. This is a good example of how dangerous the GOP's ingroup/outgroup obsession is.

If this guy weren't A) certainly a Repuke, and B) apparently a Christian, the state legislators wouldn't tolerate two minutes in the same room with this guy.

Imagine he was a member of the Green Party and he had been saying that Osiris repeatedly spoke to him and told him to do it. They'd be part of a mob with pitchforks braying to have the unhinged lunatic thrown into a volcano.

But simply because he's a member of their party, and says his imaginary friend is actually the same guy as their imaginary friend, they are insistent that he continue to be allowed to write/vote on the laws which every person in the state must live under.

It is wreckless and stupid to behave in such a way -- read all of the quotes, he's a very disturbed person.

7. Samsel had better hope God didn't plan for the kid's dad to be a sniper or a Karate black belt

If so, then it might be God's plan for him to buy a one-way ticket to Bulgaria.

10. Here's the thing. If he said that he was a devil worshipper and that Satan told him to

do this act, the reaction would be completely different by many people. And yet, "GOD" is accepted as a reasonable reason for his assault by these same people. Unless of course, it's THEIR kid that is on the receiving end.

odd how it doesn't seem to be god's plan to have this POS cool his heels in the county pokey for child abuse, among other things.

15. Then call God as a witness at your criminal trial

No consequences for his actions means his actions will continue.
