more than 100 BB shootings at cars on southern California freeways...someone finally caught

An Anaheim man was charged with three counts of attempted murder Friday in connection with a BB gun shooting on the 91 Freeway, where recently there have been a rash of such shootings across the region, authorities said.

Jesse Leal Rodriguez, 34, also was charged with three counts of assault by means likely to produce great bodily injury, Riverside County Dist. Atty. Mike Hestrin said in a statement.

“Shooting at moving vehicles with a BB gun or pellet gun while traveling at high speed on our roads or freeways is incredibly dangerous,” Hestrin said. “Shooting out windows of cars could easily startle drivers in traffic and cause a major accident. We are all relieved that no one was seriously injured by these crimes.”

The charges involve three occupants of a vehicle that was shot at on Tuesday, authorities said. Rodriguez is scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday. If convicted of all charges, he faces a sentence of 90 years to life in prison, the district attorney said.

Rodriguez was arrested Wednesday morning after motorists in the Riverside area reported being shot at the night before. He was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside and is being held on $750,000 bail, arrest records show.

At least for a guy who's lived in the Chicago area his whole life.
Used to do some troubleshooting & optimization work at a manufacturing site just off the highway. Probably a couple weeks every few years.
People move pretty fast on that road, especially at night.
Horribly dangerous stunt.

Giant child.

Why do so many parents raise children instead of raising adults. BB guns at moving cars is big fat don't by the time you're 10, ffs.

Pandemic, gun violence, insurrection...

We also have to address the mental health problems in this nation. We've all been traumatized over the course of the pandemic, not to mention we're all just out of a four year abusive relationship and he just won't go away.

The driver could get glass fragments in their eyes causing them to lose control.
And an out of control vehicle on a busy highway could lead to disaster.

Jesse Leal Rodriguez was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and negligent discharge of a firearm. The 34-year-old Anaheim resident was arrested on Tuesday, May 25, after several car windows were shot out on the 91 Freeway in Riverside, and authorities are attempting to determine whether he was responsible for some 100 such incidents that have terrorized Southern California motorists in the past two months. In November 2010, Rodriguez pleaded guilty in Orange County Superior Court to felony counts of participating in criminal street gang activity and illegally carrying a loaded firearm, court records show. He was sentenced to 16 months in state prison, 270 days in jail and three years probation, though court records indicate that at least some of the sentence was stayed by a judge.

A little more than two years later, Rodriguez faced more gun and gang-related charges.

In December 2012, Rodriguez pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm by a felon and admitted a street gang enhancement. A charge of street terrorism was dismissed, court records show. Rodriguez was sentenced in April 2013 to 32 months in state prison.
