Trump has a very very long record of conflating aspirations with reality. Look at all his babbling over the last 5-6 years. He constantly talks about what is/will be in an obviously counterfactual manner when the reality is that those things were just his wants/needs.

The thing which protected him from prosecution for the past 4 years was being POTUS. He knows that. He knows he's in danger of being prosecuted. Saying he's gonna get back to being POTUS is just him saying "I need to be shielded from prosecution, soon!"

August seems to be jumping the gun a bit.

I would guess this date is being driven by something else.....fundraising perhaps?

I'd guess the fundraising cycle is no more than three months......which is to say goals less than three months out capture attention and dollars and longer term ones don't.

So to make money set up an artificial Armageddon that has little chance of happening.

Repeat until the well runs dry.
