is that the Democrats were not alone on this. Narcissists tend to always try and get dirt on everyone around them. I have alway said that rump has "dirt" the GOP, and that's why so. many of the members of the Senate, and house, defend him no matter what he does. They all know trump has the dirt, and they don't want it to become public.

This is the tip of the iceberg, and a lot more will be coming out on others that were compromised by trump.

One was the Russian hack of the RNC servers that happened at the same time as their hack of the DNC servers. I’m sure any dirty secrets or compromising information from that hack on Republicans in Congress would have been shared with Trump. Given the about-face ofnpeoplemlike Lindsey Graham and others in Congress, there was probably a lot of incriminating information.

Apple should be subpoenaed to learn which Republicans Trump also had investigated because Republicans will not admit it publicly.

Not only did the previous guy not care about that, in large part, but seemed proud of a lot of his lawlessness. He felt elevated, bulletproof.

And what were the leaks that Trump and Barr were interested in? Connections between Trump and Russia.

And any other agency he thought he could corrupt.

And how they operate is they ask someone there to do something and if they say no, they just ask the next guy, they keep going until they find someone that will either willingly break the law for them or is someone they have found leverage on. And one they start breaking the law for them, they push them to go further and further and further because that lawbreaking is now the leverage.

It's just like organized crime.

How many are still holding office? If they got rid of all the crooked people on Washington would we even recognize the place? When the regulation and enforcement guys are compromised, where is the path to justice except through removing their agency entirely. That sounds practical. Right?

24. AG Garland seems determined to protect DOJ's prerogatives
Fri Jun 11, 2021, 03:57 PM

He's gone on record that it's not meet and proper for the AG to examine his predecessor's activities too closely, except to say that he probably wouldn't conduct his office the way Sessions and Barr did. In a way, I get that; you don't want to hamstring your own time as AG. Getting involved in the shenanigans of the former guy's Justice Department would open the door for all kinds of Republican carping, nit-picking, and lying about the respective records. Of course, the Republicans are going to do that anyway, regardless of what Garland does. It's a lesson that Garland may have to learn for himself.

It might be more useful to approach Garland's reticence from the other direction: Okay, DOJ has to be able to subpoena records as it sees fit. Does that extend to ALL matters, civil and criminal? No, just some matters? What degree of severity are we looking at, then? DOJ looking into a company's fraudulent activities might require grand jury subpoenas for phone records, but does a baseless hunt for leakers of classified information - as we have here - a good reason? If a congressional subpoena to the executive not honored because of some separation-of-powers argument, is an executive branch subpoena for a congressman's records legitimate? If it's a legitimate exercise of executive authority, why should a gag order on the very existence of the subpoena be put in place?

I got questions.

That major league verbage is exactly what Democrats must use in speaking to the public. We must be blunt, repetitive, and call things what they are. Some part of the public will surely listen. It will help wear down the spirit of Republicans too. They need to know they are not operating in a vacuum where their bullshit is absorbed at face value. We are in a war. Let's step up to the plate and have at it.

...like Garland didn't know about this until the NY Times report. I'm sure he and all of his staff were aware of it and have been addressing it. Even Maddow last night was acting like Garland is dragging his feet on this and other major issues created by the trump administration.

They're working on it, just not going to send out an email blast or publicize their investigation. That could jeopardize the investigation.
