Euro 2020: Denmark's Christian Eriksen collapsed on the field against Finland.

Denmark midfielder Christian Eriksen collapsed to the field in the first half of his team’s game against Finland at Euro 2020 on Saturday.

Eriksen was walking alone near the sideline in the 42nd minute when he appeared to stumble and then fall forward. His teammates immediately sensed urgent trouble and waved frantically for trainers to rush to his aid.

The players, some of them in tears, then formed a circle to shield Eriksen and the medical teams as officals performed chest compressions on the player near the sideline.

...they don't appreciate how much physical effort is required for a 90 minute soccer game.

But this is the biggest news in the world right now and if it turns out that he collapsed due to heart inflammation/myocarditis or perocarditis, this is going to radically change the direction of the vaccine/virus response.

I assume he was vaccinated some time ago? Is there any indication this was caused by covid or a vaccine?

Ajax had a 20 year old collapse in 2017, I think. Well before covid. It's rare and awful but it can happen.

Athletes sometimes collapsed before Covid was even a thing.

I was tidying up and my husband stepped outside and when we came back it was chaos, and we were like “what the hell did we miss?!” Looks like he’s conscious, but what a scare.
