Denmark's Christian Eriksen suffered cardiac arrest, was 'gone' before resuscitation - team doctor
https://www.espn.com/soccer/denmark-den/story/4407267/denmarks-christian-eriksen-gone-before-cardiac-resuscitation-team-doctor
Denmark midfielder Christian Eriksen was "gone" before he was resuscitated after suffering a cardiac arrest, the team's doctor, Morten Boesen, said in a news conference Sunday.
Eriksen, 29, is in a stable condition after he was taken to a hospital in Copenhagen on Saturday after he collapsed on the pitch during Denmark's Euro 2020 opener against Finland.
"He was gone, and we did cardiac resuscitation. It was a cardiac arrest," Boesen said. "How close were we [to losing Eriksen]? I don't know.
"We got him back after one defibrillator, so that's quite fast. I'm not a cardiologist, so the details I will leave to the experts at the hospital."

(59,475 posts)Looking at the article the word was a quote from the team doctor, but it might have been better to use a less flashy, but accurate headline.
Your correct point that you do not resuscitate someone who is conscious points to the problem in the headline. It would have made more sense to say he suffered a cardiac arrest, but was resuscitated. This captures the seriousness with both facts.
I hope that he regains his health completely.
Disaffected
(4,508 posts)only for a very limited definition of "gone". Most folks would (reasonably) interpret the headline as meaning he died before resuscitation could revive him.

If hed been jogging alone in the woods and that happened, hed be dead.

(5,507 posts)I thought he was really gone. It was hard to watch. You could see them doing chest compressions for a long time and I saw him spasm when they shocked him. I was shocked when they showed him awake on the stretcher.
Learn CPR people. It can save a life
And before any rumors start, his team doctor already said he never had Covid

(182,279 posts)104 beats per minute thats the pace for compressions. No assisted breathing is necessary anymore but if you can or if there is anyone else there give it a shot.
108 beats is actually preferable but thats the count on Another One Bites the Dust AC/DC so they use The Bee Gees song as the standard.
