With the Senates latest confirmation of Candace Jackson-Akiwumi to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit, Biden has confirmed a total of seven judges. These are specifically Article III judges, who hold lifetime appointments on federal district courts, appeals courts and on the Supreme Court.
Broken down, Biden has confirmed five district court judges and two appeals court judges so far.
By this point in their presidencies, Donald Trump had confirmed two lifetime federal judges (one of whom was a Supreme Court justice, Neil Gorsuch), Barack Obama had confirmed zero, George W. Bush had confirmed zero, Bill Clinton had confirmed zero, George H.W. Bush had confirmed four, Ronald Reagan had confirmed zero, and Jimmy Carter had confirmed four.

(18,973 posts)Yes, Trump got a lot of judges seated for a 1 termer, but people have to realize Obama was a 2 termer.
There are currently 793 active Federal judges, Obama named 309 of them, Trump 229 Bush II 151 Clinton 70. Reagan and Bush I 27 combined and now Biden 7. So right now, it's 386 named by Dems and 407 named by Reps, but almost have the ones named by Reps aren't Trump. Bush named some awful judges, but for the most part they were still sane and knew the law.
By the end of Biden's 1st term that 386-407 score will be more like 500-350 in favor of Democrats. There's a whole mess of judges that held on because they didn't want Trump to name their replacement.

The announcement, which marked Biden's fifth wave of judicial nominees, includes his intent to nominate two circuit court selections and comes as Democrats are pressing to quickly fill openings across the federal judiciary with their slim majority in the US Senate.
It's a central priority for Biden and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, a New York Democrat who has already shepherded seven judicial nominees through to confirmation, including two high-profile circuit court selections in recent weeks.
That number is notable for its historical context: It puts Biden on the fastest pace for judicial confirmations in a first presidential term in more than 50 years. The last president to have seven confirmations by this point was Richard Nixon in 1969, according to a White House official.
