But I love twilight at 9:30 in Ohio, too

(14,850 posts)In NYC area the sun sets latest at ?8:33...
So now it's probably setting around 8:31ish
When I was Switzerland it set closer to ?9:30ish. Cool👍
OTOH what a shock it was to go to Puerto Rico in March of '07, and have the sun setting at 5:00 PM-ish?!!!?!!???!
WTH?
Either there, or when I returned I realized -
it's waaay closer to the equator so, of course, it's
not doing the wide:"swing" of the Earth axis
as it orbits the Sun in the higher latitudes of NA and
elsewhere . The sun moves very little in it's arc (higher, or lower) across the sky at, or near the Equator vs NYC, etc- thus the "early" sunset.
Because I was seeing the lush greenery, and flowers as soon as I got outside the Airport-
it naturally immediately made me think/feel NYC summers which markedly include the long 💖 summer days 😌 so that's what I expected!
