(33,039 posts)The Former Guy = TFG.
It is a clever way of singling out Trump while simultaneously letting the air out of anything he claims he is at this point. Apparently, it grates on him only slightly less than calling him a loser.
It doesn't even mention his name. I love it.
Hugin
(33,039 posts)Which out of respect for him as both a human being and President I will not repeat here.
I've sworn to never show an ounce of human dignity toward that malignant narcissist which includes uttering his name in any form other than as a reference to who I am specifically talking about in context.
The only exception being when I am referring to Dr Mary Trump. Those times, I will use her full name so there can be no confusion between the two.
TFG is the only socially palatable thing I can use in normal parlance.

(16,265 posts)Think about it: the dude is in love with his name (which is also his brand). He builds buildings, names them after himself, and then splashes his name all over them in gigantic letters.
Talking about him without mentioning his name is the perfect dis, imo.
NurseJackie
(42,862 posts)Does anyone actually and sincerely believe that he cares about anything that happens at DU.
Please.
ShazzieB
(16,265 posts)We aren't doing it because we think he cares. We don't need for him to care.
Yes, it's a symbolic dis of him and his stupid name, but the symbolism is for the benefit of those who are aware of it. It's also a convenient way of avoiding the use of a name that most of us are sick and tired of hearing, reading and typing, and I think it beats hell out of most of the other nicknames people have been using for
him.
No one's insisting that everyone has to use it. Those of us who like it will continue to use it. Those who don't care for it are welcome not to. Win-win!

(42,862 posts)... not a nickname. Biden doesn't go around continually referring to Trump or the Trump administration or Trump policies as "TFG". It's just a silly and juvenile fad that slows down the discussion of news and information.
But I guess it makes people who are "in the know" and the "kool kids" feel special because they're in on the gag.
Ridiculous.

I have a couple of questions too. 1. WTF does "woke" mean? 2. And while I'm at it, what did Billy Joe McAllister throw off the Tallahatchee Bridge? And one more if I may. If our knees bent the opposite way, what would chairs look like? Sorry about this but on hot sleepless Oregon nights, these are things I think about. Forgive?

(46,023 posts)But this is feeling a lot like Fitzmas. One of the underlings (admittedly a high up one) will suffer but not the one in charge. It's taken all this time...we keep hearing about all the great people on the job...and we haven't heard a breath about tax, insurance, or bank fraud, which we know from testimony have been going on.

(34,131 posts)But the chances are now that the corrupt bookkeeping has been exposed, the banks that have kept his enterprises going will call their loans. Since the TFG's business are over leveraged, his house of cards will come down.

(46,023 posts)I want to see him do prison time, though, for so many things. I wish he could be charged with a crime for causing 1/6.
csziggy
(34,131 posts)His ego is so tied up in his various businesses, it would destroy him if they all had to close. That would be MUCH more satisfying for me than seeing him sent to prison where he would be out of the public view. I want him humiliated every time he puts his face in front of a camera!
ShazzieB
(16,265 posts)Calling him TFG has nothing to do with an anticipated event. He's "the former guy" because he's no longer potus and because Biden referred to him that way.
He is The Former Guy right now and will always be The Former Guy, regardless of what does or doesn't happen with any of the court cases or investigations.
But I want him to spend some time in prison. I'd like it to be because he separated all those children, including infants, from their families. Also, for allowing hundreds of thousands of unnecessary deaths by COVID. And, for trying to overthrow our government. I know none of those things will happen, but at least, he could be sent to prison for all his frauds. I'm not satisfied with him money guy going to prison for him.

Completely unnecessary. This is right up there with ridiculing and insulting people who live in trailers.
