One thing I had thought is that it is the Iranian government "cleaning up" a leak. Too mnay things, IMO, have been coming out about the actual conditions of the Iranian nuclear situation; so much so, if you look past the right-wing saber-rattling, and the left-wing "chicken little" bullshit routine, there have been some big names, in both the US and Israel, which have changed their tune. Now, it is no longer the "immediate threat." It has made me wonder, if there was "insider" information. If you start putting your own scientists on trial for treason, you look weak...BUT, if you kill them and blame it on the US or the Zionsts, then it is "win/win."
