If we can't vote, have our votes count, and be assured the result will stand, we'll never be able to do anything about any other issue again.

And time is quickly running out.

Voting rights is an essential element to doing this, but the end ought not be lost sight of.

A traitorous cabal has far too strong a presence in government and society, and will destroy the country if allowed any further run.

it should also include Racial Equality and Justice. It hasn't always, but in an ideal world, they all fall under the same umbrella.

Once the climate goes to shit, human civilization is doomed and nothing else will matter except for raw survival as small bands of humans move north to avoid heat death, thirst, and starvation.

Climate supports life. Nothing else really makes much difference until that issue is addressed (if it's even possible to address it at this late date.)

(And I agree that NO government is currently treating the climate crisis with the urgency it demands.)

If a giant asteroid were on a path directly toward Mexico that would be an important issue in America because it would have a huge effect on America.

even though voting rights seems high on the list... if the voting population doesn't have critical thinking skills and awareness of the truth... the vote is still a problem

a way that works for people who aren't excessively wealthy if there are no voting rights.

They are being chipped away.

And the funny thing is, as a white woman in a small, red town, I don't really have to worry about losing my right to vote, but that's not the point at all. EVERYONE who legally can should be able to vote, easily and without barriers.

While many issues are more urgent, I believe that many of them are rooted in ignorance... Often willful ignorance. But in the end I think we get the most from having a well educated populace.

You can't save something that people don't value. And the only way for people to value democracy, voting rights, the rule of law, etc. is if they are taught to understand why we have them in the first place.

If it were not for massive investments in extreme right-wing policy through election contributions, control of public and social media, and funding of right-wing think tanks by corporations and the ultra-wealthy, America's GOP would be just in the margins of history. We would be living in a far more equal and just world.

They fuel the divisiveness of racism and poverty, the distrust of higher education and science, the distrust of government and the soundness of elections and the corruption of our public and social media.

And, they do it with our dollars that truckle up to them via our everyday purchases of goods and services. I feel that knife in my back each day as I read the latest news from around the world.

We've been building this one-way road to hell for many decades as consumerism, selfishness, divisiveness and a sense of individual independence has come to prevail in the public spirit, both in the USA and most other industrialized nations. It's difficult to envision a way to reverse the flood.

Just the opinion of an old, tired and retired country boy.......
