(268,856 posts)The hurricane hunters are in there now and will give us an update at 8.00am. Looking at the satellite, it seems to be heading more west than WNW so it has moved slightly south as well. That means it's closer to our north east and north coast. It's been raining most of the night, but not that hard in my part of the island and so far there is very little wind. Will get local updates shortly.

That system going through the northern Gulf and Florida from your loop is running contrary to Elsa trying to organize and maybe that will weaken it for everyone.
Best of luck 'till this thing passes you. It's going to be rough on Cuba too.

1 death in south of Island, after a tree fell on residence house

Rained all night here - not heavy in my part of the island. The worst is just coming through now-
Spoke with a good friend in the North East and she says heavy rain but not that much wind. She says the sea lashing the rocks last night in Portland was some thine else and their home is not seaside.

I'm about 8mins from the beach..
but up on a slight hill...areas below me were flooded
lots of palm fronds down, and minor damage...but nothing me and my toolbox can't fix..
