Trump has cut off Rudy Giuliani, and is annoyed that he asked to be paid for his work on challenging the election, book sayswbostock@businessinsider.com (Bill Bostock) 2 hrs ago
Giuliani spearheaded Trump's legal attempt to overturn the 2020 election result until February.
Giuliani has reportedly been asking Trump to pay his legal fees for weeks, but has been ignored.
Trump and his family have also cast off Giuliani, according to a new book from Michael Wolff.
Donald Trump's family has cut off Rudy Giuliani, and the former president has been irked that the lawyer asked to be paid for his work challenging the 2020 election, according to a new book.
On Sunday, The Times of London published an excerpt from "Landslide: The Final Days of the Trump Presidency," the upcoming book on the Trump presidency from the author Michael Wolff.
In the extract, Wolff describes Trump's post-presidency life at his Mar-a-Lago resort, and how Trump is frustrated by the lack of progress in his quest to overturn the 2020 election result.
Giuliani, a longtime ally and personal lawyer of the president, started leading the Trump campaign's efforts to overturn the election on November 4, but departed sometime in February after a series of setbacks.

(115,584 posts)TFG never pays people, especially lawyers - one reason (besides the professional suicide part) that he can't get any good ones to work for him. And even the bad ones expect to get paid.

(1,109 posts)I seriously doubt there is (OR ever was) a written legal retainer agreement between IQ45 and Rudolph William Louis Giuliani; because an attorney simply standing next to a possible client does not an 'agreement' make.

(115,584 posts)for work done or services rendered; it's just more difficult to assign a value, and there is a whole body of law involving quasi-contract arrangements. In the case of Rudy in particular, though, one might reasonably argue that his incompetent and often downright bizarre services were worthless, but if TFG didn't want Rudy to work for him - and he clearly did, at least wrt the Ukraine matter - he should have formally fired him, refused to let him represent him or even appear to be representing him. By accepting his representation, such as it was, TFG entered into an implied contract for representation even if there wasn't a written retainer agreement.

(115,584 posts)Rudy at least has an argument for getting paid something just for showing up, even if he was farting and leaking hair dye.

(1,109 posts)And I agree (with you); he did indeed 'show-up' (even occasionally with his hand down his pants), something 'nearly all' attorneys would NEVER-EVER do in public.

trump is, as we all know, way more than a fool, but allowing Ghouliani to parade around calling himself the President's attorney while failing at every turn...well, there's nothing to say.

(6,679 posts)You are willing to bury the contractor under enough lawsuits the minute the work is done to get them to give up getting paid in exchange for dropping all the lawsuits.
A cousin of my dad fancied himself a real estate tycoon of sorts. Moved to Atlanta in the 30's and lived pretty high compared to life in eastern Kentucky. He loved to pitch a fit near the end of a meal out in order to avoid paying for it.
