(35,434 posts)I remember meeting Andy when he was running for office. He came to our union meeting, at which we had an attendance of just a little less than a thousand. Afterwards I met him, shook his hand, and had the opportunity to talk with him for about five minutes. In that short time I could tell he was the kind of person we need in office.

(10,811 posts)Andy Kim was appalled and greatly saddened by the Capitol's defilement. I recall reading that he'd always considered the building exquisite, both for its architecture and interior design but more importantly for its symbolism of a great democratic institution. The idea that Americans would storm and trash the building while claiming the act patriotic was abhorrent to his basic sensibilities.
As a native of New Jersey, the man's actions following the assault made me very proud.
We Jerseyites are more than our shoreline and boardwalks.
