New from me: QAnons New Plan? Run for School Board
QAnons new plan? Run for school board
In the wake of Donald Trump's 2020 election defeat, many QAnon followers have hatched a plan: run for school board or local office, spread the gospel of Q, but dont call it QAnon.

QAnon forums are imploring followers to run for school board or local office, pinning a Mike Flynn quote to get involved in the education of our children to the top of their page.
But theyre also reminding followers: dont mention QAnon when you do it.

Drake Wuertz came to the school board meeting in Seminole County, Florida, in late June with a message familiar to those who had heard him speak at previous meetings: America's children are at risk of systemic abuse.
And the way to stop it is to run for local office.
"Theyre being carried away through our education system, through the woke ideology thats infiltrated professional sports, through the sexual grooming and pedophilia thats apparent in the entertainment industry," Wuertz, 36, said in a video of the Seminole County School Board meeting posted by the districts YouTube account. We need to run for precinct committees, we need to run for City Council, run for school board and primary the RINOs in this room," he said, using an acronym for Republicans in Name Only.
It was the kind of claim he'd made before, touching on a wide variety of fringe theories about sex trafficking, including the false conspiracy theory that mask mandates make it easier for sex traffickers to target kids in our community. On his social media profiles in the last month, Wuertz posted pictures of Michael Flynn, the former general and national security adviser, and the "great awakening" all hallmarks of the fringe QAnon conspiracy theory.
But like many people who have trafficked in QAnon material, Wuertz has begun to distance himself from the movement.

(13,903 posts)since Reagan. They would have right wing whackjob lie about or hide their extremists politics to get someone in on the local level. School boards being a magnificent place to then take a run at proselytizing, christian indoctrination and returning mandatory prayer and Bible to public schools.

(21,745 posts)I'd known conservatives and I'd known Republicans before, but I didn't see the real crazies until they started running for County Board, School Board, Township Boards in the Eighties. They did very well in small, low turnout elections and now local government is clogged with them.

(100,063 posts)We have a Q nut who is a former police officer that got elected to the local school board with Trump flags and stickers on the back of her Jeep and her platform was to "depoliticize the classroom" (read: teachers can't teach about women's rights with vagina-shaped hats). After January 6th, there were reports that this individual went TO THE FUCKING CAPITOL during the insurrection, yet won't publicly admit it - probably out of fear of being arrested / investigated. Oh and this woman attempted to pass off her visit to DC that week as a "Girls' Trip" even though it was at the height of COVID and everything was closed there. There's been a recall attempt on her because of this, and unfortunately the recall has been stuck in arbitration, and now we cannot get rid of her.
The moral of the story? EVERY ELECTION COUNTS! Conservatives get into power by running for low level positions in order to advance to higher ones.

when she started running for the School Board, but her phones answering machine announced she was in the Eagle Forum.
School Board is not trivial
