Everyone is ok. Just a lot of debris. My beloved Drake Elm split and is sitting on my roof. Damn.
Video of the tornado and pics at the link.

I was in a F4 one time so I made sure we had a room to go to. Its the laundry room but it's built like a tank.

(31,261 posts)I was driving around noon, the roads had standing water in some places.
It has been raining almost every day for almost a month, some trees are likely ready to topple due to the ground around their roots being soggy. Do it is luck that the storm didnt produce a lot of wind for us.

(11,949 posts)But the temperatures have been nice.
Surprisingly we got one final band late this afternoon that set up on us with squall after squall. Got another 1/2 inch out of it.
Normally these storms suck out all the moisture with them and we have several dry days. But we are over 50% rain chance the next several days. So more rain. I actually really like it.

(31,261 posts)Today I was not so lucky, I must have had two ground lightening strikes near my business, scared the crap out of me, maybe the big woman upstairs is trying to tell me something.
The temperature has been nice, last night felt like late October, I actually turned off all cooling in my home and slipped on a nightshirt to warm up, slept like a baby.

(31,261 posts)BTW, how does the Jamaica Olympic Track team look this year?
The great Allyson Felix can win a medal in the 400m sprint and the 400m Relay, which would cap her brilliant Track career and be a massive boost to her new womens athletic shoe company. We have a situation where several American women could hit records this year, one can potentially break FloJos (Florence Griffith Joyner) almost 40 year 200m record World Record and a second will be the first American White female sprinter in the 100 and 200 meter races in many many decades - she can actually medal (Gold or Silver) in the 200m race under good conditions (she will have to overcome the Trials winner to win Gold, which will be tough) - both women will likely win at least one Gold in the 100/200m Sprint Relays.

(268,715 posts)The thing is it was disorganized around that time.
I'll see if I can find the precise details
Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce is looking good although she is getting older. Overall the women look stronger than the men this time around.
Let me add that I wish the Olympics had been cancelled - the Delta variant will only spread with this international gathering because many athletes have not been vaccinated.

(3,676 posts)Drive home from work was terrifying. We caught a bad squall and it felt like being in a plane with bad turbulence.
After that there was just heavy rain. About midnight I heard what I thought was wind but mustve just been ferocious rain.
No branches down and trees look fine for now.
Soggy ground has always been our enemy where I live. Trees topple not because of wind but because of waterlogged soil.

(31,261 posts)Soft ground and the right amount of wind cause havoc with them. We certainly have the soft ground part now. I personally live with a falling tree phobia, so the current situation certainly has me thinking about big Oaks near me at all times, some of those puppies log in at 20-40 tons.

(3,676 posts)15 at least. Thankfully the ones close to the house fell down after the last hurricane so we don't worry about those anymore.
And I'm highly allergic to oak trees! I would probably welcome it if they all came down.

(31,261 posts)They are sneaky pollinators, sending out the fine stuff that the wind blows everywhere, it is hard to trace it to them.
Saoirse9
(3,676 posts)for about 3-4 weeks. The oak pollen looks like mustard yellow seedlings that lay all over the ground in clusters. The stuff is everywhere. Turns everything yellow.
This past February maybe into March was really bad.
