Doctor has jaw wired shut after violent antigay attack outside NYC subway station

A 29-year-old doctor in New York City has undergone emergency surgery for a broken jaw following a violent hate crime attack on July 4.

Sina Rezaie had just exited the subway in Greenwich Village when an unidentified man approached him from behind.

“He called me a f*ggot and then half a block later, he came from behind and kicked and punched me multiple times,” Rezaie told NBC News. “I don’t know why this happened to me.”

The beating left Rezaie with his jaw broken in two places. He lay on the ground until after his attacker had vanished and managed to pull himself to his feet. Then he stumbled to a nearby bar for help.

7. That's what shocked me!

I mean the attack was absolutely horrible, but the fact that it happend in the Village is just shocking. It's almost like the perp went there looking for trouble.

I used to live in the West Village and it was a very safe neighborhood and people really looked out for each other. However this was about 15 years ago, so it sounds like things must have really changed.

If I were the editor ...

"After violent anti-gay attack outside NYC Subway, victim requires emergency jaw surgery"

And then explain how they're a doctor in the article, and how the jaw needed wired shut (as is typical for broken jaws).

It's like everyone these days goes for the most sensational-sounding headline, regardless of how confusing it comes off (not your fault Aegis I know you're just quoting the article).
