Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsSept/2015, Trump's interest in Hitler had been known from before the 2016 election. This should ....
.... not be new news.
But did we hear about this? No, but we heard 24/7 about Hillary, her emails, and her email server.
Sadly I think at least 50% of Trump supporters are totally fine with Trump getting "tips from Hitler."

Donald Trump's ex-wife once said Trump kept a book of Hitler's speeches by his bed
According to a 1990 Vanity Fair interview, Ivana Trump once told her lawyer Michael Kennedy that her husband, real-estate mogul Donald Trump, now a leading Republican presidential candidate, kept a book of Hitler's speeches near his bed.
"Last April, perhaps in a surge of Czech nationalism, Ivana Trump told her lawyer Michael Kennedy that from time to time her husband reads a book of Hitler's collected speeches, My New Order, which he keeps in a cabinet by his bed ... Hitler's speeches, from his earliest days up through the Phony War of 1939, reveal his extraordinary ability as a master propagandist," Marie Brenner wrote.
Hitler was one of history's most prolific orators, building a genocidal Nazi regime with speeches that bewitched audiences.
"He learned how to become a charismatic speaker, and people, for whatever reason, became enamored with him," Professor Bruce Loebs, who has taught a class called the Rhetoric of Hitler and Churchill for the past 46 years at Idaho State University, told Business Insider earlier this year.
"People were most willing to follow him, because he seemed to have the right answers in a time of enormous economic upheaval."

Imagine what a difference it may have made if NYT or WaPo had published investigative reporting on the December 2015 RT dinner that both Jill Stein and Michael Flynn attended?

(33,047 posts)I'm saying that Trump's crimes have never been reported with the vigor of HRC's day-to-day life portrayed as crimes.
Take Benghazi for instance... Four dead? Trump's malfeasance in (to put it mildly) the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic over 400,000 Americans dead. Where's the investigations? The mass media pounding away at it every hour on the hour?

He may have had a book (a jokey gift perhaps) or someone may have read passages to him.
I dont believe he voluntarily read any book. Ever. He cant even speak in complete sentences and he struggles to read the dumbed-down phrases on his teleprompter.

asked Trump about the book, the first thing Trump wanted to know was who told her about it.
Then Trump lied saying it wasn't a book of Hitler's speeches, it was a copy of Mein Kampf given to him by a friend who was "a Jew".
When the reporter interviewed the friend, he told the reporter that it was a book of Hitler's speeches and that he wasn't Jewish.
The 1990 Vanity Fair profile was lengthy, detailed, well-written, and meticulously sourced. I don't remember hearing it mentioned or referenced by either journalists or pundits in 2015-2016.
"Did your cousin John give you the Hitler speeches?" I asked Trump.
Trump hesitated. "Who told you that?"
"I don't remember," I said.
"Actually, it was my friend Marty Davis from Paramount who gave me a copy of Mein Kampf, and he's a Jew." ("I did give him a book about Hitler," Marty Davis said. "But it was My New Order, Hitler's speeches, not Mein Kampf. I thought he would find it interesting. I am his friend, but I'm not Jewish." )
Later, Trump returned to this subject. "If I had these speeches, and I am not saying that I do, I would never read them."
Who was the cousin the author thought might have given Trump the Hitler book?
There is also this chillingly prescient observation in the 1990 piece:
The cached version of the 1990 Vanity Fair profile is not behind a paywall. You can read it here.

Fuck you, everyone who did this! Especially those who promoted the corrupt Hillary Wall Street racist "I don't wanna see the American people voting for the lesser of two evils" bullshit. They knew better and did it anyway.
