and his character in Dead Zone, Johnny Smith, had similar thoughts about Nixon.

Years later, Bush Jr's regime was so bad that King wrote a whole book about it, Under the Dome.

And then there was Trump. No Stephen King book about him. Imagine being so awful that even the "King" of horror doesn't try to depict you.

between Stillson and Trump. But the differnces are:

1. Stillson's great threat is nuclear devastation. Trump's great threat is a fascist dictatorship that would imprison and annihilate minorities, while reducing everyone else to blind obedience or destruction.

2. Stillson wants a nuclear war. Trump has an aversion to foreign wars, despite his militaristic displays and verbal threats.

3. Stillson hides behind a child to protect himself. Trump openly abused immigrant children but did not use them as protective cover from an attack. He used them to bolster the anti foreigner mentality of his cult followers. Trump's recklessnes could have started wars, but, except for a couple bombings for show, he avoided it.

Their personalities and characters are similar, though.

You know the old question ‘if you could have a dinner party with 3 people living or dead who would they be?’

Well, I just had to un-invite Gandhi to make room for Jeff Tiedrich!

if it's all really falling apart on him, he'll pull a Ken Lay and slink off to some Corruption Island (probably off the Russian coast) or a secret dacha in the Crimea. Watch the news for a quiet announcement that he's switching over to his own private security.
