(5,123 posts)Behind Branson, Bezos, and Musk - are talented folks. What will they learn? I was inspired. I am sure a lot of young folks were inspired to pursue STEM careers.
After these last few years of "conservative" nuts spewing so much anti logic, anti scientific nonsense, it was beautiful to listen to people who believe in science and the impact it can have on our lives.
I posted recently about the backlash against an advanced math course for kids. These nut jobs saying it was CRT. The purpose of the course was to teach advanced math concepts - the teacher is an African American woman and she brings in Black history - history of black contribution to math. She also applies math concepts to the real world. The students are not just in the classroom. I think its just such a cool way to teach math. Math is a subject that so many students struggle with.
Interestingly, some of these hateful folks, have a problem with recruiting people from other countries that have the knowledge we need in STEM careers - but at the same time have such an aversion to science and facts. They want to dictate what "facts" their children learn.
Sometimes I feel like we are living in the dark ages with these anti intellectuals.
Now, we can disagree about whether we should or should not do a thing. But at least we are all working with the same facts and using reason and logic to base those arguments. We are not discussing jewish lasers starting forest fires.
I'm rambling, but I just love the fact that science and technology is making news and people are excited about it.
