another way to lose a customer - a local farm stand with the best corn - no longer for us.

We moved here just a bit over a year ago - really nice place (but has its share of right wing trumper assholes - the flagged loud trucks in some parking lots, the Cawthorne or trump signs still out). We were so pleased last summer to find a farm stand that sold just incredible sweet corn. Then - the election - we drive by the place on the way to one of our hiking spots - and they had a huge trump sign above the farm sign name. And they left it up - until just a month or so ago. So - we will find our corn elsewhere.

it is so easy when they fly their ignorance so visibly. I suspect they've lost just about all of their blue customers this year. I certainly hope so.

Even in the Bay Area like in Walnut Creek, which is a major suburban area, and just a bit outside it, we still have a few Trump propaganda pieces. My family mentioned one pedestrian overpass over I-680 still has stuff. During the election, they constantly had a trump cheering section up there.

With yellow recall Newsom signs and a few Mf45 signs mixed in. I middle fingered them. Then when we were returning home I double middle fingered them. We saw these two pick up trucks with American flags on them and sure enough as they passed under the recall overpass groups they honked while in the middle lane and took a sharp right and then cut off a bunch of people and took the off ramp. I suspect they have been driving back and forth on that stretch of the freeway to draw attention.

So even in blue SF/Daly City ( where everyone still wears their mask!) they have theses right wing idiots.

We have a megaphone (it's a kid's toy, but it's quite good) and last year we saw a bunch of folks trump folks at the Lafayette Safeway intersection. My daughter and I had a very enjoyable time with the megaphone during a red-light!

That was during the election, but I am not sure I would do it again. These buffoons are dangerous, and the driving stunt you talked about is an example of that.

The signs were professional and they all wore the same t custom made t shirts. It was pretty chilly out there 58 degrees with a low hanging fog around 4:30 pm.

I have a good friend who lives in Pleasant Hill and she went full on Q and MF45. The final straw was when I asked her if she thought because I was a liberal I drank children’s blood according to Q and it took her a long while to say no. I’ve known her since 1983 and that was the last straw for me. last year I stopped speaking to her and unfriended her on Facebook.

I told my family that these folks were probably paid, as it was cheaper than buying advertising, particularly in CA, where trump didn't stand a chance. They certainly did pick high-traffic areas, so they certainly got exposure.

I don't understand how the trump propaganda has survived on the I-680 ped overpass for so long. That's public property, and somebody should have ripped the stuff down. I haven't driven under that in a couple of months, so I don't if it's still there.

if their target market is the general public. If you're selling tie-died t-shirts and Birkenstocks you can probably assume TFG's cult members won't be shopping at your store so it doesn't matter if you've got a BLM poster in your window. If you sell guns and Bibles you aren't marketing to the same people and you can go all Trumpy and it probably won't affect your business. But if you're selling fresh produce at a farm stand where all manner of folks will be driving by and might want to buy some sweet corn, FFS - keep your politics to yourselves. It's just stupid.

"Sweet corn, or sugar corn, is a special, low-starch variety with higher sugar content, at 18% of the dry weight. Most of the sugar is sucrose (1Trusted Source).

Despite the sugar in sweet corn, it is not a high-glycemic food, ranking low or medium on the glycemic index (GI) (3)."

Corn also contains a fair amount of fiber, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.

So, NO it is not like a jelly donut that lacks any of the vitamins and minerals (and fiber) that sweet corn provides and has an extremely high glycemic index of at least 78 (anything above 70 is very high).

For that reason, corn can be part of a healthy diet for anyone, including diabetics in moderation.

Animal fats. So much of that low fat thinking is completely outdated. I would not touch corn. I was prediabetic for several years and did not want to have the same fate as most of my family, including my grandmother who had to have her foot amputated. I have been keto for years and my numbers are great. Blood glucose, HDL, liver enzymes, BP, triglycerides, everything. My vegan doctor was aghast at my keto diet but she couldn’t argue with my results told me that my numbers are great and keep doing wat I’m doing. I am considering eliminating dairy but still doing research. I have an open mind and dearly wish “everything in moderation” was true, but it’s not. They are foods we should all be avoiding regardless of how delicious and traditional. I wish I could eat Mexican street corn, sugary sweets, pasta potatoes, popcorn, bread, all that stuff that sends our blood sugar into the stratosphere and eventually results in insulin resistance. No thanks, I want to keep my feet (and kidneys).

With the amount of outright BS that passes for science that finds its way into the plethora of get-rich-quick diets and for-profit "nutrition products," I can see why you hold mistaken beliefs.

The Research So Far

The ketogenic diet has been shown to produce beneficial metabolic changes in the short-term. Along with weight loss, health parameters associated with carrying excess weight have improved, such as insulin resistance, high blood pressure, and elevated cholesterol and triglycerides. [2,7] There is also growing interest in the use of low-carbohydrate diets, including the ketogenic diet, for type 2 diabetes. Several theories exist as to why the ketogenic diet promotes weight loss, though they have not been consistently shown in research:

Rural white people have been badly propagandized for centuries. All of them have Fox News, AM radio and insular Facebook bubbles. They buy the lies on them all day long: they're being persecuted for their religion, they're under attack.

Many of the small, rural growers pride themselves on avoiding chemicals, pesticides, GMO plants, & taking care of the land. They & their families eat the same food they are selling. If I can I try to talk about Democrats supporting sustainable agriculture (instead of calling it the Green New Deal), and that I appreciate their products, want to see their businesses succeed, and that I am willing to pay more for a quality product. I want them to start to see Democrats as potential customers instead of horrible monsters.

Yours is the second post on the front page saying this. It's amazing that these people think this is a good idea, advertising their trumpism. But the cult...well, they don't recognize anyone not in the cult and to them, Biden winning the popular vote (meaning there are fewer of them than us) never happened. We will not patronize any business that supports trump--so far it has removed two pizza places from our list of choices. But we live deep in Trumpistan, so our not patronizing them has zero effect. However, since this is a tourist destination, a lot of them may realize that they can't rely on the locals to be trumpers and so they don't advertise their stupidity.

Last year they closed earlier than usual in the fall because of Covid. I went past it several times since then and they had a huge trump sign up until they opened this spring. I've taken my business elsewhere. Another local place which lost my business is a local hardware store, who put up giant signs endorsing the traitor and his cohort bill johnson. 88% of this county voted red in 2020. I don't want to shop at any of the locally owned businesses.

There are still trump signs up for the 2020 election. I am wearing out my hand, as I exercise my right to free speech as I pass them.

I've had a couple people I personally had to stop doing business with due to them outing themselves. No fanfare, I just never went back and found someplace else.

There was a new diner with a car club vibe on one side where you could drive up like the ol days. Anyway, good food with nice staff etc. then the French toast became ‘freedom toast’ and the same with the fries. . The waitresses were required to wear short old style uniforms and they hated it. Then a picture of the owner went up with John McCain. Business dropped dramatically and they went out of business.

They definitely didn’t respect the fact their regular customers were union backing, diverse Democrats. They had a good thing going and just couldn’t keep politics out of their business.

If someone is selling something, I don't really care what their politics are...until they start screaming it in my face. At that point, it's going to have an effect.

If I were marketing something, I would definitely keep my own politics out of it. It just makes sense from the standpoint of not alienating potential customers. Especially when passions are running as high as they are right now.

Doing so only increases the division and feeds the sense of tribalism in America. I don't care about your views, I care about the quality of the product/service you're selling. If we only ever buy from or interact with those who agree with us, this isn't going to get better.

As for what we're trying to prove, all it proves as far as I can see is, "I have no tolerance for people who think differently from me."

Obviously their politics are more important to them than their business.

So long as a business or professional does not openly declare their political leanings, I'm OK with it. When they make a huge production about it, donate to a candidate or party that is dangerous to our democracy, or behave in a blatantly biased way, I will happily spend money at their business or use their services.

I have no idea about the politics of my accountant or of my many doctors because they never bring it up during consultations. I'm happy to keep it that way. That's all I ask of them. But if they few Trump flags at their place of business I would be out of there in a heartbeat and not go back.
