Pizzeria Owner Mounts Truly Bizarre Defense for Jan. 6 Riots

Not only is she representing herself, she’s using far-out “sovereign citizen” talking points to claim she is immune from prosecution.

A Pennsylvania woman who allegedly stormed the Capitol and told a police officer to “bring Nancy Pelosi out here now… we want to hang that fucking bitch” has filed court documents claiming to be a divinely empowered entity immune from laws.

Pauline Bauer, a Pennsylvania pizzeria owner, is accused of multiple counts of violent entry, disruptive conduct, and obstruction of Congress after she allegedly broke into the Capitol on Jan. 6. Prosecutors allege that Bauer tried organizing buses to transport people to D.C. for a rally that preceded the riot, and that while in the Capitol rotunda she told police that she wanted to kill House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

But in what experts describe as an inadvisable legal strategy, Bauer has demanded to represent herself in court, appeared to threaten a court clerk with prison time, and declared herself a “self-governed individual” with special legal privileges.

Okay I have a suggestion, she pay for her time in jail, now and into the future....since she thinks she is a "sovereign citizens" what ever the fuck that means....

As in "I went to Washington DC and the Capitol on January 6, 2021" as a tourist, and all I have for a memory is a souvenir criminal record.

Perhaps Bauer should not have insurrected.

“Sovereign citizens will often refer to themselves as ‘flesh and blood’ people. They do this because they have this longstanding belief that the government has created artificial versions of them for various nefarious purposes,” Pitcavage told The Daily Beast, noting that the document appeared to be Bauer’s attempt to reclaim all supposed versions of herself.

proceed to violate the law in some fashion, anything from traffic, building codes, zoning, criminal laws, etc.

Once caught they assert their lordliness and then sue their "oppressors" under their loony take on common law...read intimidation and extortion.

Oh and the damages they demand are usually gold, since federal reserve notes aren't real money.

Failure to do that is give her an additional 24 hours to find some country that would accept her.

Failure to find a country that would accept her - put her in that Cuba detention site.

These people haven't a clue what democracy is about, or the common good and Commonweath. They are totally about their perceived self-interest, and they can't even see when their own actions harm themselves!

It can be conditioned on their declaration of sovereign citizenship in legal briefs, as these people are doing in court. The law could simply recognize such a declaration as formal renunciation of citizenship, which it already does recognize under other conditions. It may not stop them from being crazy but at least some of them might not try to argue that in court, at least they would shut up about it! BTW, another way to lose your citizenship is to be part of an attempted overthrow of the government. Ideally all the insurrectionists should be adjudged as having done that.

or personality disorder that will encompass supremacists of all types, sovereign citizens, conspiracy theory advocates, incels, gun nuts, religious zealots, etc. While they have many symptoms in common with other mental illnesses and personality disorders, this new combination and the fact that they can all find others like them on the web is truly frightening. The only problem is that I doubt it's treatable.

As for this woman, audit all her tax returns going as far back as they can until they find some that are legit and throw her in federal prison for tax evasion.

Wait until the trials start and the jailings start piling up. Every day pugs want to talk about critical race theory or some other nonsense, but what are they going to talk about when every day there is a trial and every day somebody gets sentenced and the news shows the evidence of their conviction every hour on the hour?
