I remember when the song came out and it was played a lot in the gay bars in SF. You’d go to a night club and when the song came on the gay men would get out and shake their booties to it! There was a place called Dance your ass off and it seemed every other song was the village people. I had some gay male friends I hang out with and would go clubbing with them sometimes. never had to worry about getting my ass picked or my pussy grabbed like when I went to the straight bars!
