He donated to Giuliani once in 2007. But mind you that Giuliani was not as batshit as he is today since he went all-in on the MAGA train. He was probably the most moderate of the bunch back then: pro-choice (including public funding for abortion), pro-gay rights (at least much more so than any other Republican running then), and fairly pro-immigrant, etc.

Snopes found no evidence of him being a Trump supporter either: https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/adam-sandler-trump/

There was this bit he did on SNL as Opera Man in 2019:

Trumpa, Dumpa
Trumpa, Dumpa
I make – a the wall
I playa the golf
And they take – a the fall

Trumpa, Dumpa
Trumpa, Dumpa
They afraid to impeach
I get to make – a the wall
And Putin make me his beetch

I quit watching Gibson and Eastwood's films long before they revealed their right-wing natures. The overblown egos of these two men was a huge turnoff for me and I didn't think their movies warranted the praise or awards that they received. Their politics didn't come as much of a surprise for me.

I can't find any evidence to indicate he is or was a Trump supporter or that he is an extreme right-winger like Eastwood, Gibson, and Woods. I can't shun or boycott everyone who registered as a republican. That kind of feels too much like McCarthyism.

and that only goes so far. That party is responsible for the poor shape the country is in. It's all about obstructing the Dems from improving the country...having the power to do that. They don't give sh_t about the nation or even their voters/

It's just about power and putting in right wing judges to keep their power.

to this country. I just don't think every person who has identified as a republican should be condemned or boycotted. That is the sort of thing that right-wingers do. There are still some relatively reasonable, sane republicans (or ex-republicans) out there. Unfortunately very few of them hold elected office these days.

Yes, Romney is decent, though I disagree with him on most issues. There is also Congressman Adam Kinzinger of Illinois who is unusually sane for a republican and I wonder how long he can justify staying with the party. There are a handful of others, plus the ones who retired and left politics behind.

decent means little. They are not to be trusted. They're trying all over the country to suppress voters...Dem and POC votes. They are open about it and, let's face it, their white supremacy and desire for authoritarian government shines through.

They're trying to subvert our democracy. Good-heartedness is a good thing in personal relationships but not in dealing with proto-fascists. We have to harden up and stand against them. Politics against these people is not about kindness as they are out for blood to stop people from voting, and of course to gain and keep it permanently.

republican politicians and even that is with great reservation. As for people who are registered republicans like Adam Sandler, I don't put them all in the same category. Of course, if I thought that Sandler was a Trump supporter, then he'd get cast with the fascist deplorables.

I don't think we are so far apart. I just took issue with Sandler being lumped with people like Eastwood and Gibson.

"Seinfeld" fan until Michael Richards went on that public n-word rant. I haven't watched one re-run of the show since. And I was one of the ones who watched that show from the jump, before everyone else discovered it back in the '90s. I'm still a fan of Jerry and George, and certainly of Julia Louie-Dreyfus. I consider her one of the most talented women comedy actors since Lucille Ball (3 shows in syndication at the same time, making money, and she's already got huge family money).

Same with Eastwood and the spaghetti westerns and the "Dirty Harry" movies. I can't watch them anymore.

Some of our heroes turn out to be a disappointment in many ways, obviously not all political. Many turn out to be really rotten human beings, which makes it impossible to appreciate their talent.

He is certainly not a first tier celeb anymore.

Not invited to be on the red rope two maybe three back.

And I will watch some of his movies because he tells a good story.

I do not need to agree with an artist's life and choices to enjoy their work.

Picasso was beyond horrid.

Truman Capote was not a good or likable person.

Ernest Hemingway cheated on all his wives with women and men, and probably beat them all too.

I will avoid right wingers like James Woods and that Lt Dan because they are painfully bad actors.
