A common assumption is that logging, or removing some trees, would prevent fires. In fact, many forest experts say that logging is ineffective. My closest friend is former hotshot Captain, firefighter, USFS.
I was telling him how I believed that logging might reduce fires, he assured me no, not at all.
Power companies use this as an excuse.

Increasing the amount of sun that reaches the forest floor increases under brush grown and dries the growth and soil.
