Don't let this administration be "that guy". We got our troops out in a few weeks. By next week, all of the guides, translators, and other Afghani aids to the US will be dead.
Don't form a committee. Don't have planning sessions. Don't wait for approval from congress.
Just move them to Guam. Now. Start doing it this hour. The Commander in Chief can order this.

(11,122 posts)Guam has already volunteered.
Get moving. Don't go to bed until it's done. Unless you can sleep with visions of beheadings.

Their locations are classified of course, but it sounds like they started evac last month to places outside Afghanistan while they figure out how to bring them to the US. It's a tremendous effort since this article claims there are over 15,000 of them.

(11,122 posts)I am concerned for the people that need to be moved, but I'm also concerned for the images of beheaded and murdered Afghans that will start showing up in a week. It will be a stain on this administration.
If we started withdrawing troops in April, why didn't we plan for this. It's not like it's the first time we have had to do this.
But bad pr aside, think of the people who put their trust in our word and now live in terror. 15,000 is nothing if there is the will.
If the humanitarian reasons aren't enough, imagine the you tube videos of the executions.

I hope/trust the Biden admin is helping the interpreters quietly and it just isn't making the news for security reasons. This isn't Trump letting the Kurdish people be massacred.

(11,122 posts)But I don't trust. It wouldn't be a concern for the hundreds of veterans leaving if it was already happening. I don't want these people killed. I don't want Biden to be blamed because he was too busy fighting idiot republicans. That is why I say just do it now. Get on the Commander in Chief telephone and order the immediate transport of our allies. Immediate. Not next week. Definitely not by the end of August. The dying will start in days.

(11,122 posts)That's where we sent our people after Vietnam. We transported 130,000 then. There is housing and support already there. They stay there until they are vetted.
We can dodge the issue by calling on the Biden administration, but this falls on him. He's the one who can do it today.

(204,776 posts)11 Members of Congress have come together this July 4th to call for the immediate evacuation of Afghan interpreters who served alongside US troops. We have no time to waste.
They were there for us, now we must be there for them.

(2,689 posts)The timetable was not imposed on us. It was set by us. If that time table did not include evacuation of the most vulnerable to America, weve committed murder, massive murder, and will be seen to have run like cowards. It will be as bad as Loser-45s bug out from Syria.
