..is a fucking CONSERVATIVE Democrat in the US Senate. What is Joe Manchin thinking? Bipartisan politics in DC is non-existent. McConnell has admitted his only objective is stopping the Biden administration; state governments are making laws that will leave presidential election outcomes in the hands of GOP state legislators and Manchin appears content with the idea, haggling over bipartisan issues while the country teeters on edge of takeover by bunch of Trump opportunistic thugs.
Biden's got to start throwing hard balls...

(15,265 posts)In 2020 the Orange Anus won WVA with 68.62 % of the vote. It is a red state.
Looking at Manchins tenure in the senate he has handily beat his Democratic challenger in
The special election (Senaror Byrd passed) primary in 2010 and then in 2012 and 2018 primaries. He beat his Republican challengers in 2012 by nearly 10 points and by just ~3% I 2018.

The voters in WVA keep electing him.

Manchin: "The bottom line is you just got to keep working, you can't give up on this stuff and you just can't separate our country any further." What degree of unity remains to preserve? Zip, nada...
Where was Manchin the previous 4 years when McConnell was ramming through his Trump agenda, absent any concern over further division?

(11,721 posts)I have said many a time on DU, it is easy to decry that Biden or the Democrats aren't doing enough, aren't fighting hard enough, aren't doing some vague something that isn't enough...
Well, what would you do if you were Biden. Show us your hardball...
What can and what should Biden do to take this issue in hand?
The people of West Virginia have put Manchin in his seat, likely because of the views and politics he has displayed to them. What should Biden, or any other Democrat do that would change Manchin's behavior while representing the will of the people that put him in office?
