The rally is at a Church, for goodness sake!

(31,812 posts)Those of us who grew up in the black church understand and know - that is where black activism takes root.
I mean - Sunday school we learned about the birth of spirituals such as Let My People Go.
It was our only place to safely discuss our country without getting lynched.

(49,983 posts)It has always been a bit of a sticking point for us Democrats. We rail against the GOP for being cozy with evangelicals, while at the same time we rely on AA churches and clergy in every election. Heck we don't just rely on them, we embrace them.

I'm not a church-goer, never have been, but I do know that Rev. McMickle is very influential in the Cleveland church community, big time. And he's not alone up there. This is a very big deal.
I applaud them whole-heartedly!
