If this was “an extraordinary event,” why not "an extraordinary” sentence?

Esp. when prosecutors wanted 18-months.

He was on the Floor of the Senate, he may not have been one of the organizers but he was clearly one of the foot soldiers that made the insanity possible.

For being Middle Eastern?

This sentence proves to these terrorists, a failed insurrection will only net a little less than a year in prison. I wonder if we'll see another civil war by these wackos in the next few years, they don't have anything to lose, and their prison time is nothing more than a reorganization effort to tell their wild stories and try again.

This is really starting to depress me. These fucking people attacked the US Capitol, this guy was on the Floor of the US Senate he literally chased the IS Senate from its chamber and is getting 8 months. This is bullshit.

as can be hoped for for most of the rioters. Most were first time offenders that were charged with misdemeanors. In fact, many will probably plea down to time served and probation, fines, and community service.

Probation apparently recommended 15 months. He must have gotten a lot of credit for accepting responsibility and being the first one to plead knowing he would likely go to prison. I assume this is a departure from the sentencing guidelines. The judge must have stated his reasons on the record. It seems a little light to me.

And you can bet his every move will be watched by law enforcement and the press. No weapons, no contact with any criminal element, etc.

His punishment doesn't end after federal prison.
