So ya press ! and wait. Two or three minutes later, phone lines are busy, please try again at a later date."

I am trying to get copies of paid receipts for from 2290 for the last three years. This form deals with tax on heavy duty trucks. The taxes were paid through the accountant's office but he died and we cannot get the info. from him.

Get a meeting with direct IRS employees. For the most part, they are pretty smart about the IRS regs and understand the folks that need help.

3. You can physically visit an IRS location and make an appointment. At least it worked for me in 2018

5. It's the same at the Social Security Office. My son hadd his wallet and strong box stolen.

Long story short…we tried by mail for a new card, but without ID, he can’t get it. He can’t get his ID without it. Been trying to an apt for 9 months! No one ever answers the phone. Ever.

6. Friend got new ss cards last month. He moved to Penna and needed new license.

To get the license, he needed his SS card --- part of 6 points bullshit. Couldn't find the SS card.

SS instructions were to put his birth certificate and copy of current NJ license in a box outside of the SS office.

Those and a replacement SS card were mailed to him two weeks later.

they blocked reaching a live person. they switched to getting the stimulus payments out and let the fed tax refunds lag, hence everyone was trying to call.

9. Two issues - One is that the GOP has been cutting

the budget for the IRS for YEARS. The other issue us that they haven't been able to get everyone who was furloughed because of COVID-19 to come back to work. Some have taken other jobs, some have retired early, some just decided they don't want to deal with pissed off people all the time.
