I do not think Nancy will accept Jim Jordan on the Committee? I could be wrong.
But McCarthy picked three Congressmen that do not believe Biden won a legitimate election. They believe in the "Big Lie". How can they contribute anything of value to the investigation?
The Speaker could accept two of them and begin the hearings immediately. McCarthy could fill the other three when he decides to deal with the facts. We do not need more lies and deception.
However, he would need to have another pow-wow with his Leader before he made any decisions.

Jim Jordan, who was selected by McCarthy to serve on the Jan. 6 select committee, told me hes willing to testify before panel about his conversations with Trump. If they call me, I got nothing to hide.

Jordan also suggested that Speaker Pelosi's actions are of interest to him.
"There's one question that needs to be answered, and that's why wasn't there proper security presence that day. And that's a question only the speaker can answer."

(3,622 posts)But, as you said, I'd start the hearings without Gym Jordan and his two cohorts who refused to acknowledge Biden's win.
When the inevitable wailing and gnashing of teeth ensue...(about 30 seconds after the announcement is made) I'd hold a press conference.
I'd start out by acknowledging in advance that the hearings would not be including the 3 Republican representatives. And then I'd say "And in anticipation of the inevitable question I'd like you and the American People to see the reasoning behind that decision"
The press conference would start with a three minute video showing Jordan et al at their most boorish.
At the end of the video I'd make the statement...
"That ladies and gentlemen is why we are starting without those three of the Republican picks. The American People expect the United States Congress to their jobs and we intend to do that.
The business of the committee is far too important to accept the participation of tea party agitators, saboteurs and pro-insurrectionists.
Should the Republican party representative decide to nominate actual Republicans to the committee, their participation would be welcomed.
Now, if there are any questions we will proceed with the proviso that the questioner will clearly identify themself and the organisation they representative. Additionally, any question preceded by a statement will be required to include a credible source to substantiate the statement.
First question?"
