'We are in trouble': Kansas City hospital leaders to call for new mask mandates

While COVID-19 hospitalizations in the metro haven’t reached their winter peaks, the current spike is placing additional pressure on the health care system because more people are hospitalized for non-COVID reasons now than in the winter. On Wednesday, Stites said the University of Kansas Health System was turning down transfer patients because its beds are full.

“We have a severe shortage of in-patient beds and that shortage is throughout our community,” Stites said.

He also raised the possibility of asking state officials to provide additional resources. Local officials in Springfield asked Missouri Gov. Mike Parson to fund an alternative care site to help treat the inflow of virus patients.

“We saw in Springfield, they tried to put a field hospital up — and maybe we could be getting close to that,” Stites said.

Hospital leaders, who cannot themselves issue mandates, will have to build support for the idea with elected leaders and public health officials in order to obtain a second mandate. Officials would almost certainly face intense blowback from some portion of their constituents against any new order, especially after going months without one.

what's really need are statewide mandates? Missouri has never had one, and the local health departments don't seem to be only hurry to go beyond "advisories"

has now become the third major state in the country, leading in non-vaccinated Covid Delta deaths.

FOR SEVEN MONTHS they and two other states, (Florida and Texas) have lead the headlines in Don't Get Vaccinated, Covid is a Democrat's con job.

Then suddenly, yesterday, these three states, all flipped 180 degrees when they suddenly realized that all the deaths being recorded from the Delta Variant were all of THEIR un-vaccinated Republican Voters.......LOL

Wait for it, it is coming: It is the Democrats in the Biden administration that intentionally kept Republicans from getting vaccinated all these months and months..........

A republican PHD I saw, JUST YESTERDAY, was telling me their was no way in hell he or his wife were getting vaccinated. Biden's vaccinations are secretly going to actually give people the covid virus, and at the same time install a tracking device in their arm for the Democrats to use to track their every movement. He and his wife are nearly 70 years old, both in marginal health and are extremely proud of the fact they have only watched FOX NEWS for the past ten years.........

Murdoch should be given the death sentence for his complicity in helping create the mess in America we are witnessing, and Fox News wiped off the face of the earth.................

... up, as the article states, because people are now getting operated on from waiting from last year and the mouth breathers outside the metros are being transported here.

Of course the area hospitals are going to say no more CV patients ... well tell the mouth breathers in the rural areas to go further out.

At some point we have to stop enabling the assholes.
