ST. LOUIS — St. Louis and St. Louis County leaders announced Friday that they will reinstate a mask requirement, in response to increased spread of the delta variant of the coronavirus.

Masks will be required beginning on Monday in indoor public places and on public transportation. The rule will apply to people age five and older, including those who are vaccinated.

Masks will be strongly encouraged outdoors, especially in group settings, but not required.

The local Fox channel has a blurb on in with a bit more;

The announcement about the upcoming health orders did not include specifics relating to social distancing, education, business regulations, or sports. More details are expected after the official orders are issued next week.

St. Louis County Councilmen Tim Fitch and Mark Harder have requested a possible vote on the issue. They have requested an agenda item to be added to the next St. Louis Council meeting to be held on Tuesday. They may terminate the health restrictions and mandates issued by the Department of Public Health.

when it was effect for a year.

If there is never any enforcement or penalty, it accomplishes very little. "You are required to wear a mask indoors, but we won't actually do anything if you don't."

Now if they started fining people $1000 per occurrence, they might obey

But I ride the Metro trains where the mask mandate remains & I've seen them put unmasked people off the train. Stores & other businesses have been good about requiring masks until the mandate was lifted.
