Republicans are Not Reasonable People

Courts have decided this. Fox and other outlets have successfully used as a defense the argument that no reasonable person would believe what they say. Yet the Republican politicians and their followers continue to not only parrot these talking points, they have show that they are quite willing to be violent in their support of them.

So, in court as they examine each argument made by Republicans/Conservatives/Libertarians (Take you pick, they all serve the same masters) each argument becomes obvious to the court that it is ludicrous and indefensible. And as such arguments are shown to be damaging, reckless and vile, the argument that no reasonable person would believe it is pushed and the vile reckless and damaging words are declared as entertainment and not anything a reasonable person would believe.

We are fighting for the soul of our nation against insane people. Legally insane, legally incompetent, or legally unreasonable, take your pick. When rational politicians try to join with the other side and show unity, it is like dressing up in a nice suit and putting on clown makeup. When we say bipartisan, it translates to "treason enabled."

I believe the non billionaire/millionaire base of the conservatives like being lied too.

And would rather live a lie than acknowledge they are wrong and have been manipulated and led…

something to the effect of; "Marinating one's brain in FNC for a decade or so makes one pretty much impervious to reason."

Seek propaganda and you will surely find it. Confirmation bias writ large.

there's one important thing to learn from history it's how to deal with them. It's way past time to
deal with them today.

...to believe them. Determining whether someone believes something is as simple as asking them or observing their behavior. That standard should be used for promulgators of information. Did their audience believe what they said?

He's a repub & voted for Trump, twice. I think he, & most people he knows, would describe him as a moderate. I asked if he believed the election was stolen & he skirted around answering, but then said, yes, there were just too many irregularities to not believe there was fraud. I reminded him of the multiple lawsuits where no fraud could be proven, & his comment was that if the courts had only ruled in Trump's favor he would be president. WTF? This is a college educated man who worked in finance his entire career & he's spouting illogical babble like this. I could not believe my ears.

IMO, even the moderate repubs are lost. Only the never Trumpers can be counted on to fight this authoritarian/supremacist scourge with us.

"we" ought to be looking at all this.

We live among a large group of people who've been persuaded their worst dreams will come true unless they act in defiance of public authority and established fact. They've been taught to believe that Democrats are the enemy, that anyone with a degree is a threat to their freedom, that anyone who acts like an responsible adult is stealing something from them.
In these times we need responsible serious people to stand up and not let themselves be run over by the propaganda and the hype and the angry FOOLS, and the boneheaded Media talking heads who try to make everything sound like a degree of normal rather than tell the whole truth.

We've got serious problems, and we need serious people, and if you want to talk about character, Bob, you'd better come at me with more than a burning flag and a membership card. If you want to talk about character and American values, fine. Just tell me where and when, and I'll show up. This is a time for serious people, Bob, and your fifteen minutes are up. My name is Andrew Shepherd, and I *am* the President.
