Man who made fun of COVID dies of virus

A man who mocked COVID-19 vaccinations died this week at a Los Angeles-area hospital after contracting the virus.

Stephen Harmon was 34.

Harmon died on Wednesday at Corona Regional Medical Center, about an hour’s drive east of Los Angeles.

Three days before his death, Harmon tweeted: “If you don’t have faith that God can heal me over your stupid ventilator then keep the Hell out of my ICU room, there’s no room in here for fear or lack of faith!”

Before his hospitalization, Harmon had made fun of vaccination efforts on social media.

“I got 99 problems but a vax ain’t one,” he said in a tweet last month.

On July 8, he posted: “Biden’s door to door vaccine ‘surveyors’ really should be called JaCovid Witnesses...”

As tempting is to say "Serves you right!" or some other snide comment, I have to wonder how many other people were exposed to the virus by HARMon. How many patients had to cling to life waiting for a bed in that ICU, or for access to a respirator? And how are the hospital staff coping with this latest wave?

That said, I don't take pleasure in writing that. It's just sad that so many people are so deluded.

Feeling like crap for several days, GI issues, loss of taste/smell, not all that mild to me, but you probably won't have to go to the hospital, and you probably won't die.

I'm fully vaccinated, my wife is fully vaccinated, but I'm not 100% sure about anyone else, since I didn't see them get the shots...not even my kids.

The mercy is that they put you in an induced coma because being on the ventilator is so miserable, but the flip side of that is you take the anesthesia without having any idea whether you will ever wake up. If you have the vax, you will almost certainly live to play another day.

There is a guy here in Florida who got sick with COVID, went to the hospital and seemed to be getting better last I read. He was asked by a reporter whether he would get vaccinated once/if he became well. His answer was absolutely not. I have no idea of what changes the mind of people like that.

My concern is that such fools will breed a vaccine resistant COVID variant soon and endanger all of us - my only hope if that happens is they go first so that maybe scientists can figure out how to save us. There is a republican congressman who got COVID last year, recovered and refused to get vaccinated. He and his family got COVID again just recently and he still won’t publicly say whether he will get vaccinated.
