https://www.huffpost.com/entry/ted-cruz-cleveland-baseball-team-name-change_n_60fbb745e4b06e84e31d08a5Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) joined the right-wing freakout over the Cleveland baseball teams decision to change its name from the Cleveland Indians to the Cleveland Guardians, and Twitter called foul.
The Cleveland OH MLB team has changed their name to "Guardians." Cruz immediately asked -- in a Tweet -- "Why does MLB hate Indians?"
He was buried in scorn . . . I don't know how to post tweets, so, go to the cited article to see.
Meanwhile, I'm wondering why Cruz wants to be called "Ted" and not by his given name of "Rafael"? Is it because he knows Texas Republicans will not vote for someone named "Rafael"?

(15,298 posts)Has to be some reason why I can be a lifelong Cleveland fan and have to watch game 1 of a World Series where Cliff Lee and C.C. Sabathia were the starting pitchers...
Neither of them were wearing the Uniform of the team they came into the league with
For decades, teams like Cleveland were nothing but farm clubs for big market teams

(24,393 posts)Teams with bad records get the early draft picks. They pick the top prospects, like a CC. Later - as the team continues to struggle - those top picks get traded away as one of the few bargaining chips available to the team.
And Cleveland has been doing great as of late. They were AL Champs in 1995, 1997 and 2016. Thats a better result than many other AL teams can boast.
