She was 20 years old. Had a great life. She drove with me from Arizona to Virginia when she was two.
She was never a rub my belly kind of cat. When in bed she used to love to just sit on my chest and stare at me never lay down just sit lol.
A few days ago she stopped eating so i knew the end was near.
Missing her terribly.
Hug em if you got em.
Love you Juniors.

(115,681 posts)"We who choose to surround ourselves with lives even more temporary than our own, live within a fragile circle; easily and often breached. Unable to accept its awful gaps, we would still live no other way. We cherish memory as the only certain immortality, never fully understanding the necessary plan."
"Another cat? Perhaps. For love there is also a season; its seeds must be resown. But a family cat is not replaceable like a wornout coat or a set of tires. Each new kitten becomes its own cat, and none is repeated. I am four cats old, measuring out my life in friends that have succeeded but not replaced one another."
-Irving Townsend, who said it better than I could. My condolences.

(115,681 posts)I lost two of mine last summer, just a month apart. I still think I see them now and then, out of the corner of my eye. Maybe they're haunting me. I hope so.

It's a bummer. We try to get new to fill the void ASAP.

(145,152 posts)It is hard to say goodbye to a family member. We had to say goodbye to my youngest cat. Evidently cats over the age of 10 or so tent to have kidney issues. The poor kitty lost a great deal of weight and it was hard to say goodbye

(6,797 posts)I lost mine last summer, she was 16. The picture looks like my cat she still ate a little but was very tiny and stopped grooming herself. I knew something was really wrong when she let the dog close enough to sniff her and didn't swipe at her.

(21,675 posts)Sounds like my kitty girl who is 18 now. She doesn't groom much anymore, so her coat is full of knots. She's also almost deaf and blind, but she's still eating. Partially incontinent. It's hard, because I've had many cats, but none who have died of old age.

(12,422 posts)Cats are such simple creatures yet full of mystery. What a challenge it is to make one your friend, and so rewarding for the effort. This is my favorite poem about cats:
To a Cat
Mirrors are not more wrapt in silences
nor the arriving dawn more secretive;
you, in the moonlight, are that panther figure
which we can only spy at from a distance.
By the mysterious functioning of some
divine decree, we seek you out in vain;
remoter than the Ganges or the sunset,
yours is the solitude, yours is the secret.
Your back allows the tentative caress
my hand extends. And you have condescended,
since that forever, now oblivion,
to take love from a flattering human hand.
You live in another time, lord of your realm -
a world as closed and separate as a dream.

(16,195 posts)Angie n I went to Texas n back twice..n she was no traveling kitty. She got car sick w/in a few miles but she was a trooper. We finally got back home n settled in again and all good until she developed some respiratory problems. Broke my heart. Even today. Your sweet memories will carry you thru..believe it or not. I have since rescued another kitty, Ruby. Shes a completely different personality, thankfully, as there will never be another Angie. I cried. I screamed. I went thru it all and some will not understand. Im reaching out to say that even after a year, I have at times called Ruby Angie..its ok.. whatever gets you thru the day, as they say. You seem to have so much to give..yeah..I heard that, too..but its true. Again, I wish you some peace..🙏

When someone special spends THAT much of your life with you, it's never easy to say goodbye. Thoughts are with you, Garion!

(1,725 posts)I have an overweight cat who does that... she gets on my chest, licks my face, and just sits there. So I know what you're missing. I'm so so sorry. She's still there with you, and always will be.
