The January 6th commission needs to stay focused on what lead to people violently attacking the capital to subvert democracy.

To be sure, there will be overlap, as the vaccine lies were also spread by right wing media and run with by many Republican politicians. However, we do not want to expand this commission so far that it becomes a show about what people are saying about broad topics. Right wing media's role in the insurrection needs to be thoroughly examined, as well as anyone who aided the effort to rile up conservatives to attack the Capital.

I think that a separate commission needs to deal with how the COVID-19 Pandemic has been handled. That is something that requires its very own commission where media coverage, lies, political actions, negligence, and malfeasance of anyone who allowed through action or inaction, the virus to spread and kill over 600,000 Americans in the span of 18 months.

What matters most for the purpose of legal and political reckoning is how the virus was managed (or rather, mismanaged) when it reached our shores.
