It's the same origin as that old song, "Shoo, fly, don't bother me."

For some reason, some people have started to write "shoe-in," which at first I thought was making fun of Republicanese. But apparently many people now use it, and don't realize it's nonsense. It must come from the same fantasy English school where the plural of "Nazi" is "Nazi's" even though there is not one school in the English-speaking world that teaches kids to use an apostrophe to form a plural. Must be something being added to our drinking water (or something).
